Did the exhaust valve "delete" today (ahem, unplugging them).

Ho-lee shit. Cold start growling is earthquake-esque and freeway drone is like street construction work outside your window.

Why do I act like I know more than bmw engineers?

Yea it was too loud for my complex. I plugged it back in, which sucks because it sounds 10 times better unplugged at low RPMs.

It was fun to do because it was free, but I plugged them back in too. I like when the valves close to eliminate the drone and open again at higher revs.

I reconnected mine too. It was just too loud in the early mornings leaving for work.

One thing I have noticed is that the exhaust seems louder now in sport mode all of the time even after reconnecting the valves. It might be just because ambient temps are colder now.

Can you confirm the steps needed before disconnecting?

1) Start engine
2) Set DCT to Sport +
3) Do I now need to drive to open the valves or just rev the engine, if so for how long?)
4) Switch off engine
5) disconnect and tape up connectors

Macht schnell makes a product that I bought from tom at eas that lets you open and close the valves with a click of the button that is on turn signal above auto high beem. No need to do exhaust mod

Quiet when you want and loud when you want it's awesome.

I'll post a vid and a review tomorrow

I didn't have to do anything besides check to make sure the valves were already open. Since they were I just unplugged them. I understand that sometimes that's not the case, in which I believe your procedure is the solution.

thanks man! I need this but with all the other mods I've got coming eventually, this one will probably go to the end of the list.
