Start stop not working?

My 2014 328xi start stop seems to not be working? It has almost 3000km. It used to work before after driving it for a while but now it's not working???

Depending upon the engine, start-stop will not work in colder weather. On 335ix it is about -10 c on my M3 +5 c.

Consider yourself lucky. Hate that option. Dealer wants to keep the car for one day to disable it. Don't know why I can disable it on the X5 via the Idrive but not on the 335. Same year cars...anybody knows?

N20 and N55 sound pretty rough when cold. N20 is the worst of the two. Once the oil warms up, both sound pretty nice.

Yea when I first heard the noise like a rattle but it's not then it goes away I was worried even though it's under warranty. I'm able to turn off the auto start stop I think!

Yes you can turn off the ASS by pressing the bottun above the engine start, however to permanently turn it off, it needs to be coded.

Yes, it can be coded to remember the last selection e.g. off Then then next time you start your car it will be coded off. I have done this to my M3

ASS will not work if the temperature is below a certain degree OR if the car is not at optimal engine temperature.

The dealer can code to remember the last selection, but it doesnt require the car to be gone all day. its a 5 min thing

My '14 335i remembers the last ASS setting, no coding was required. Maybe this is regional?

It must be, the confusing thing is the X5 which can be turned off via Idrive but not the 335. What gives BMW?

Same here, my 2012 auto-start ceased to work at below 4 degrees celcius (temp indicated on the car dash) and it actually took a good 5km of running before it kicked in on cold starts.

After my last oil change (in Nov 14) the thing started kicking in and worked on a -15 day and I was surprised. It also kicks in as soon as I'm out of the condo parking lot, which is an... improvement i guess?

It should not kick in until the engine is in the optimum operating temperature. If it starts before, it actually puts too much strain on the battery and it gets discharged eventually.

Nothing I can do...

However I did notice that ASS did improve in bumper to bumper traffic. Before, it used to kick in right away, but now they programmed it so that it's much more natural.

It is still, being 2012, jerky and shaky though... The 2014 loaner ASS was smoooooooth even on an N20.

Yes I agree, the newer modles have improved ASS. I still think it should one be Able to disable it via Idrive if one desires.
