Rear end collision @ 35 MPH
This sucks! What do I need to consider during my repair?
Damages include: Rear bumper Trunk latch - assuming based on the fact it won't shut unless slammed. Sensors sticking out Broken heart |

Hopefully you are ok!
My 535 got rear-ended, and in addition to the body damage the repair shop had to have the restraint system "reset" - whatever that means. There were warning messages that wouldn't go away and the headrests were stuck forward in a really uncomfortable position. |

Ouch, that's not going to be cheap. Hard to say without pics, but the bumper is going to need to be replaced at least. Make sure they do a good job with putting the sensors in correctly, I've seen them not quite flush. Not a big deal unless you're OCD and really look at them, but that's probably most of us.
As far as the trunk, that's hard to say without seeing it or having a real expert look at it. Maybe they can fix it, but may need to also be replaced. Even a little tap in these boys gets expensive fast. I had my bumper backed into by my brother in law at around 5mph and it required replacement. I happened to have a friend in the auto body industry who pretty much replace it at cost but it was still around $1k all said and done. That's what insurance is for right? |

Wouldn't let me post via my iPhone... I just noticed that if I jerk back and forth while in the drivers seat it causes a creaking noise. Normal? |

Thx for everyone's concern. I was in the slow lane on 85 NB and traffic came to a halt. As I was braking, I saw the car (Dodge Voyager) in my rear view approaching rather quickly and I creeped forward to avoid a collision but I guess I didn't move forward enough. |

My only/best advice is to find the right repair shop.
Don't go to the first one your insurer mentions; talk to your dealer and get the name of who THEY would take it to (or, if your dealer is slimy, find the best dealer around). Insurers will have a long list of approved shops but they will always steer you to the ones that do the fastest/cheapest job. Chances are the dealer recommended one will also be OK'd by the insurer, but will be much more thorough and will catch things the other guys won't look for. Ideally the right collision shop specializes in BMWs (or, say, German cars) Anyway, that all sucks man - sorry about it!

I hope your neck is ok! That must have been some wallop.
Hopefully, it didn't crease the trunk floor. You're looking at $3-4K in repairs, minimum.

I'm on a school run now surrounded by minivans. Reading this makes this scarier.
Best of luck with the repairs and neck op, keep us posted.

Sorry to hear this OP. Make sure you find a really really reputable repair shop.
Also, when I got rear ended (not a gay pun) by a lady doing 45ish, in a ford escort, driving on a suspended license for NOT having insurance (florida law), I turned down going to the hospital because I only felt some minor neck pain. Hours later, after all the adrenaline wore off, I had sever neck pain. Make sure you take it easy and you may want to go get looked at. Wish you and your car a speedy recovery.

Sorry to hear Stunna! Where did this happen? I'm in south bay but drive all over the peninsula ... just a random thing? Person texting? Hopefully your insurance gets all over their insurance to figure out if cell phones were involved ...

Also, since we're all here, you *can* code hard-braking flashing taillights -- could only help in situations like this. Reading this makes me glad I did.
