replacement wiper blades
Is anyone using aftermarket wiper blades? I have had two sets of the BMW ones on my F31 and they are not good. In particular there is a big streak on the driver's side right in my field of vision. I actually wonder if there isn't enough pressure at the mounting point or something.
The Michelin ones at Costco require you to order 'special hardware' afterwards to install. I have also seen Valeo and PIAA ones available online but can't find any locally. Any ideas? |

I have an F30 328I, and got Bosch aftermarket replacement blades. I wont be back to Canada until beginning of March to tell you which model. I paid under $40 and they work great.

The BMW ones are crap, I had to replace my drivers side one when the car was only a month old, for the same reason as the OP. Replaced it with a Bosch one and it's loads better. Never bothered with the passenger side one, but the missus always complains that the screen is dirty her side because of the rubbish BMW wiper.

The Bimmer wipers blow. I get a set of these every 4-6 months:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Amazon may say they don't fit your F31, but they fit mine perfectly.

I felt the OEM wipers on the F30 were flimsy and didnt work well from day one. I finally grabbed a set of RainX Latitude blades and am absolutely amazed by them. Honestly I never knew aftermarket wiper blades could make such a difference.

I've Tried the RainX Latitudes on my SUV and i don't think they are that great.
1) after 120kmph it doesn't wipe the whole windshield. the edges get lifted up by the wind i guess. 2) they are terrible when mixed with road salt. I have to use so much windshield fluid to keep it wiping smooth and not causing any squeaky noises. As for Bosch wipers...from what I've read Bosch makes the BMW oem wipers Canadian tire doesnt carry them. but part source does. Canadian tire gets all their parts from part source though. I've never had any issues with my OEM BMW wipers, had them on both my E90s for the 3 years each with no problems. Even my current F30 its been 2 years and i dont have any issues with it |

Not sure about F3x sizes, but the Bosch Icon blades are available at Canadian Tire, I recently picked up a set there for a family member's car.

Not sure about the F3x ones, but the ones I mentioned above for another car (Kia) did come with everything needed to install.

Orion4 you are right! Bosch 24OE and 19OE work great, they are a good value if you buy from (Amazon). I want to try the PIAA ones too but I needed a driver's side wiper today so I went to AutoZone and paid a few dollars more for the Bosch 24OE. For the 2014 F31 Sports Wagon you have to take the clip that is attached to the new 24OE wiper blade off-- then you install it as is without any adaptor. You end up with 3 extra plastic parts from the new blade.-- 2 extra clips plus the one you have to take off.

I found another option for the F31 Sports Wagon, a little less pricey than the PIAA 97370 Silencio X.trm Silicone Wiper Blade - 24"/19", Pack of 2 ($84.99 on Amazon)
Here is the PIAA page for them: http://www.piaa.com/store/c/32-Si-Tech-Flat-Blade.aspx And here are the prices: (Individual) Total for 24"/19" is $54.52 PIAA Silicone 97060 Si-Tech 600 mm Part 81 (24 inch) $29.04 on Amazon PIAA Silicone 97048 Si-Tech 475 mm Part 8 (19 inch) $25.48 on Amazon |

Yup! Annually- unless you can show that it is failing- streaking/chattering. I do the same and change at the 6 month mark between annual replacement by BMW. My "old" eyes like a clean/clear windshield !
