Rear diffuser question
Hey guys - my car is gray and the rear defuser is the same color as the rest of the car - which means it doesn't "pop." It just sort of blends in.
I'd like to get the defuser painted black (flat or glossy I can't decide). But I was thinking of having it wrapped instead of painted. Where would I go to get that kind of work done? I'm in Atlanta Btw |

I am interested in this as well. I think the rear of my MG M235 needs a bit more flair. But it's not clear to me what color the rear diffuser comes in stock. The pictures on the BMW site show it on a white car and it appears partially painted with what appears a matte black middle section. But I don't see any options to choose color. Does anyone know if the entire thing comes matte black stock?
I have the black kidney grills, and with the glossy black window trim I'm thinking a glossy black rear diffuser would make the back end pop. Top it all off with a glossy black rear spoiler and the glossy black mirror caps from iND, and I think the car would look really sharp. But I can't find reliable painted spoilers either, and it would seem a waste to paint the carbon one. |

I had mine wrapped and it turned out really well. I figured I'd give this a go before paying to have it painted or buying the actual CF pieces. Total was $150 to wrap the diffuser and mirror caps.

+1 Had the same thing done to mine. So much easier and reversible if you don't like it. A google search of car wrapping or sign/vinyl shops should find you something. Reputable dealers use 3M vinyl and it holds up pretty well. I'm sure there are plenty of places doing this in the ATL.

I wrapped the lower bumper section of my 228 in 3M CF vinyl so it has the appearance of a diffuser. I think wrapping is your best option if you don't want to spring for the OEM diffuser.

IIRC The OEM performance diffuser is flat black stock.
IMO It's a nice alternative if you were gonna with flat black as wrapping/painting the stock diffuser would probably be $200+ anyway... |

search Liza Sheen on facebook for wrapping. If you want it painted, talk to Ted at Autoglo in Tucker. Tell him Mike sent you. You might be surprised that its probably no more expensive to paint then wrap.

In my case it's a lease and wrapping is reversible so that was the best option for me. I felt I was able to personalize the car exactly the way I wanted it either with reversible mods or OEM parts that I wouldn't get charged for at turn in.

Unfortunately, with 2 jobs, I rarely have time to go on a group drive, but my wife and I are heading up that way today!
Edit: we got up just past Gaineseville and it started raining, so we turned around. We wanted to hike Brasstown Bald Last edited by mike@tpc; 01-29-2015 at 06:59 PM.. |
