New Car Order

Well im new to the forum and placed my order on a 335xi sedan last Saturday 1/12. I just checked the 800 number and said its sched for production and no production date confirmed. Im pumped for the car but not going to get crazy because sometimes when you get to anxious the little things irk you. Like the car being delayed for a DAY haha. Plus the weather is crappy here in the NE. Even though I got a XI I wouldnt mind keeping it clean and have it for the Spring and Summer and test it in the snow NEXT YEAR. Ill keep you guys posted on the production of the car to give you guys that have ordered a timeline.

Congrats! You say you won't get crazy, but you'll get crazy. Happens to all of us. Mine has been waiting for a vessel for a week now. I won't take delivery until 2/21 in South Carolina at the Performance Center, but I'm still like "get on the damn boat already." What color, interior, and trim did you get?

My car was in that status, scheduled for production with no production date confirmed for about a month. Hopefully yours doesn't take that long. I started to go crazy

Mine (335i Sedan) is on the way after having just been built in Germany. I told my dealer I wanted a German built car. Several dealers I spoke to said they will not oder S.A. built cars for customers special orders, though they may get some (typically 328s) S.A. built cars as dealer demos, service loaners, etc. I also noticed when doing online searches for available cars that many dealers explicitly stated if the car was built in South Africa. Apparently, from what I've been able to gather, there seems to be quite a lot of customer sensitivity to S.A. built cars though there seems to be no evidence that S.A. built cars are of any lower quality than German built cars, perhaps even the opposite. So, probably not worth worrying about. Also, fwiw, I heard from my local Mercedes dealer that the new C-Class are built in South Africa and there is a very high likelihood that if you get one of the new C-Class cars it is built in S.A. I also heard that Audis, particularly the A4s, will soon be built in China. So much for those fine German built automobiles.

Thanks for the information about South Africa I have read that a JD Powers gave them the best plant award in the BMW system. BMW also has a plant in the good old USA the X5 I believe it built here so not every Bimmer is born german. No matter what car you have problems do come up with my 530 2005 I have more problems then my other bimmers.

Mercedes is building the C Class I read that with the costs of everything world wide they are looking for probably for cheaper places to build.

Hope you get your Sedan faster then I will get mind Mrvuml.
