m6 wheel and tire question
I am currently looking into a set of m6 reps.
I plan on going with the 19" m6 reps with General tires from **********s. My question is should i get 245/275 235/265. I will not be lowering my car. I wasn't considering the 275 rears until I saw a few people complaining about the lip protection on the 265 generals on a 9.5in m6 wheel. I want the added protection of the 275 but I definitely don't want any rubbing. Will I have to worry about rubbing with the et33 offset? Thanks in advance for the help. |

I'd recommend calling **********s to discuss it with them. They will probably be able to answer all your questions. I'm planning the same and that's what I'm going to do when the time comes, so if you do talk with them, please keep us posted...

Depending on the tires, you may or may not rub. On 265 tires with ET30, some coupes do rub because some tires have bigger sidewalls; thus ET33 would be best with 265. With ET33 your wheels are pushed 3mm away from the struts which leaves you less room in the wheel well area. In addition, your rear tires will be sticking out a little further (by 5mm). In order to run 275 you'd need ET38 or so.

With 275 rears and a et38 offset would the tires still set flush
or would they be more inset? I was all set on the 235/265 combo until I saw the complaints about the lack of lip protection with 265. I'm trying to get a good flush look without rubbing and at the same time would like decent lip protection if all this is possible. Advice is appreciated. Thanks for your help |

To be honest 265 is fine. 275 will give you a little bit more protection but it's minimal. Just as long as you dont drive too close to curbs you should be okay. with ET38 your wheels will sit 5mm inward but your tires will have an "ET33" so it will sit almost flushed with the fenders.

I thought I understood the whole wheel offset thing but I'm
a little confused about what you mean with the et38 and the tires having a "et33". Could you please explain this further so I can understand this. Thank you |

Say you have 265 on ET33 and it's almost flushed with the fenders. Now imagine the wheels sitting 5mm inward (ET38). If you ran 275 on the rear, the tires would stick out 5mm on either side of the wheel (10mm/2) making the edge of the tires sit very closely to where your ET33 wheels would sit.

Ok thanks for the explanation. If I did go the 275 rears and
the et38 offset would I begin to have a problem with rubbing on the inner wheel well since the tires would be wider and pushed further in? I'd like to run 275's but if there may be issues I guess I'd go with the 235/265. Thank you for all your help. |

I think you should be fine with that set up. There are some people running 275 on ET33 but that's with tires that have really small sidewalls (Toyo T1R). The only thing is that the M6 reps only come in ET 20/30/40. So if you're going with 30 then you should go with 265 (with tires that have small sidewalls) to avoid rubbing.

I know for a fact that someone was running 235/35r19 front 275/30r19 rear et35 front et33 rear without rubbing on stock suspension on a 335xi coupe. As long as you are not lowering you should be cool. That is what I am planning in the next month or so.

ET33 with the 275 rear will be tight. You may have to roll your fender to get it to sit right, especially with a loaded car. To be safe, you can do the 265s and have clearance.
