Anyone completed a xenon bulb change on adaptives?

Access to the back of the headlight units on my 3er with adaptive is not the same as the none adaptive xenons on my 4er.

The only info that I have found suggests that it is a bumper off, headlight units out job, which seems like a big job for replacing 'consumable' parts, and therefore unlike BMW, in my experience.

So, anyone done it, and do you have any guidelines, estimates of time taken etc?

For reference, one of our UK members was quoted £400 (about $750) to change to the BMW 'M Performance' xenons, which retail at about £150, and this therefore suggests, unless they were taking the piss, that this job was around 2.5hrs (assuming £100 ph labour).

Help appreciated

1: Turn wheel
2: Put hand in wheel arch
3: Unclip access panel
4: Unscrew lamp cover
5: Unplug bulb
6: Unclip bulb (bit of a fiddle, phone camera with light helped with this)
7: Reverse instructions

It's a mucky business if you've done anything more than a few miles in the car, but once you've done the first one, the second is much easier. I did take photos of the bulb clip (by far the worst bit) but seem to have lost them

Perfect

As mine is x-drive the steering angle wasn't enough for me to be comfortable enough that I wasn't going to catch a bulb. So I did the job (both sides) with wheels off and did so in 40 mins. I did some photos so I'll try to add to your guidelines at a later stage.

Thank You
