Dome Light
Anyone know how to get at the front dome light socket on a 2011 335I?
Do I need to go in from the headliner at the top of the windshield and release clips? |

I appreciate the video as I watched it when I needed to know how to replace the BULB.
If you can post a video on how to replace the SOCKET I would be even more grateful. I know the Albany area doesn't have the best schools but the bulb is easy as originally stated it's the socket I need to replace. BTW, just kidding about the schools. I lived in the area for too long. |

Yes You do and to remove socket you twist them I believe 45deg. or 90.
ha ha, I did watch that video as well when replacing OEM with LED's but I could not take the bulb out how it shows in the video, had to remove the whole panel, twist the sockets out and only then bulb came out (BMW tech told me that is how they do it) I have 2009 not 2011, but they all look the same so I am assuming you have to do the clips, I found it easier to make a little hook from the old hanger, then look for the clips in the small map light (the ones on the sides, you can see them in small openings) and pull the clips that way. This way you don't pull on your headliner and you don't risk of bending the metal ring that goes around the entire fixture. Last edited by grzes; 02-05-2015 at 02:24 PM.. |

2 tabs (1 right in front of each reading light) that needs to be pushed back towards the rear of the car. Then the entire dome will come down and you will easily see how to remove them.
