Rear Subframe Bushing Squeaks....

One of my rear subframe bushings is making a terribly loud squeaking noise. I have !88k on the car. Should I look at replacing the entire subframe busing setup? And if so, what should I go with? I do not want to give the car a harsher ride as a result of any upgrade though.

Thanks,

M3 is fine for a DD with stock spring rates imho.

Are you sure it's the subframe bushing? My buddy had this happen on his e90 recently:

You need to take it to a shop that specializes in suspension. Hopefully, they can diagnose which bushings are the issue.

Could be the toe arm, lower control arm camber bushings or the ball joints. The bushings are not that expensive. However, if you live in a state that uses salt on the roads and has harsh winters, you will end up having to replace the eccentric bolts, washers and nuts. The price of the hardware can add up quickly.

You should also replace items in pairs and have the car aligned or the way the car handles will be off.

Agreed. Diagnose what is wrong... It's unlikely to be the subframe bushings since they are not axial in nature.

^Had this exact noise, turned out to be the ball joint on the camber arm, item 3...apparently its very common
