New here, looking for advice on exhaust drone

Im new here to the forum but not the to the bmw scene. I have an e90 n54 SG 335i. I have catl$$ downpipes. Completely stock middle's and an DInan free flow exhaust. Sounds okay until 4,000rpm. At 4,000+ it sounds like I'm in a honda. My question is would taking out the rear CATS and installing a pair of 1792 Vibrant resonators help with the drone and make the car sounds better? I absolutely hate the way it sounds now

Cats usually quiet exhausts down more than resonators.... maybe you should just install resonators and leave the midepipe cats on there... how often are you driving around at 4k RPM anyways...?

Which downpipes do you have? You should have no drone after 4000 rpm ( most guys notice a drone from 1600 - 2000 rpm only)

My car screems going in reverse lol hehe always raping it . This is TX shit gets real here every night

Also I'm sorry I don't mean drone I mesn rasp! Lots and lots of rasp . Was thinking I can make it louder removing the rear cats and putting the resonators in place. I want it louder just no rasp .

Thanks I'm going to order a set i think they are 50$ each. And will take out my rear cats and put those in place.

Sorry to thread jack but it seems OP question was answer. I just wanted everyone opinion on the VRSF catless DP and drone. When I was researching (maybe not well enough). All I heard wer glowing reviews of these DP's. And no mention of drone.

They fit wonderful on the n54 but I have to say there is a healthy drone from 2800-3k on my MT 2009 car.

Has anyone experienced this. Is there anyway to quell the drone?

If you're getting drone on Catless Downpipes alone, there's a problem with your exhaust. No two CATLESS downpipes on this platform will have any noticeable sound variation. It's all just straight pipe and the exact same size.

Interesting.. What could possibly be wrong then? It funny.. cause there is noticeable drone at 28-3000 RPMs. And I also noticed that if I floor it in 5th or 6th gear there seems to be a healthy drone as well. Doesnt do it in the other gear just seems to happen when it is loaded up in 5th and 6th. Can you install these things improperly somehow to cause this? Just doesnt seem obvious to me how that is possible.

I think installing an x pipe if you dont already have one may help as the x pipe helps direct the two air streams better when they cross over compared to a H pipe found in most aftermarket exhaust set ups.... or so I have read

So I'm confused ?? ... Is it a case by case basis ??? As I was planning on just doin down pipes but will that cause drony rasp with the stock exhaust ? As I don't want that lol
