Is anyone running the HKS BOV/VRSF CP?

I bought this setup thinking its a quality setup as I am running TIAL and ER right now. I just wanted more noise so I bought this new setup and unfortunately I have been hearing that this setup sucks.

I have taken it to two BMW shops near me which always do good work and work with these products who turned me away. They said the VRSF CP is a pain to install and a VRSF CP with HKS BOV is just a nightmare because the oring for the BOV is too thick and doesn't allow it to sit down on the VRSF CP.

I was assured this CP is the best quality and works with the HKS BOV perfectly.

Anyone want to shed some light onto this?

I would talk to Tiago at VRspeed. He will send you the correct size o-ring. He is already aware of this issue as there is a thread on this already.

I'm sorry you've heard our product "sucks" but do you care to elaborate on why you dislike it? ER makes a great chargepipe and we offer the same CNC OEM throttle body connection, the same mandrel bent aluminum tubing and we go one step above with a smoother transition from 2.5" to 3" where they offer a very sharp transition. Not to mention we're about $100 less expensive when equally optioned, everyone of our chargepipes are the "long" version at no additional cost and every chargepipe comes with a plugged meth bung at no additional cost.

Chargepipes take less than an hour for an experienced installer. There's nothing different when comparing our chargepipe to any other popular brand when it comes to install difficulty. On a difficulty scale from 1-10 it's probably a 3.

I wouldn't say it's fair to claim our product "sucks" when their grips is clearly with the HKS o-ring and mounting design. You'd have this problem with any chargepipe. After I was first notified of this potential issue we came up with a solution to this difficulty by providing smaller o-rings to customers when they purchase an HKS CP W/BOV.

If a shop turned you away from installing a certain brand it's more likely because they want you to purchase a chargepipe from them because they don't sell that brand.

We've sold over 12 HKS CP/BOV combos in the past couple weeks alone. We have hundreds of OEM DV, Tial and HKS chargepipes in the wild with dozens of positive reviews available on this very forum. We wouldn't have such a strong following in the community if the product wasn't up to our customers standards.

Shoot over your order info and I'll be happy to investigate this for you and get you a new o-ring if required.

I'm confused, did the OP buy this or did you? Either way, shoot me an e-mail/PM with your shipping info from the order placed and I'll be happy to take care of your o-ring issue (which is an HKS problem, not a CP problem)

The only problem as of recently appear to be O rings that are a little too big. Seems like an easy fix for anyone that ran into that issue.

We sell a lot of these setups and other than the O ring issue, which is an easy fix, I have not heard of any fitment issues. I have also installed plenty of these and would agree they are a 3-4 difficulty level.

I'm running this setup. The HKS BOV is a pain in the ass to install onto the chargepipe because of the new thicker version of their O-Ring. I was able to install it myself, with the chargepipe off the car, using some towels and clamps, along with c-clip pliers.

We now include smaller o-rings with every HKS Kit to avoid this problem

I managed to get mine on with the o-ring that came with the bov. just gotta take the bov apart so you can get the snap ring pliers in there nice and just work it down around the bov flange with a screwdriver, don't pound on it as the bov is just cast aluminum and you'll be fine. just make sure that c clip sits in the groove, and when you think it's on good give a little yank on it to make sure the clip is in the groove and won't just pull out and you're good to go. it's a bitch but I'd rather it be a tight fit and have to work on it than have it loose and possibly leaking boost

lol i think installing a cp is a 1 on a scale of 1-10 and all cp installs are the same minus the c-clip (which i would rather have)

Well I took this to two BMW "shops" and both suck lol. Both turned me away after having issues installing the C CLIP into the BOV flange. Told me to get C CLIP pliers and come back.

Does anyone have a DIY or anything? I am confused and might as well do this myself.

How does a shop not have a C clip plier? It's like $15. I installed an HKS a long time ago on a friend's car and he just went to Home Depot and bought one so we could do it. The HKS should have instructions, but it's not rocket science.

Came with nothing. Most supplied BOV/CP setups come bolted on from factory.

Anyway, I figured I need the C Clip pliers will grab a pair today and attempt it myself.

Do this with the chargepipe off the car. Remove the cover from the HKS BOV to make things easier, and not to damage the cover. Put a towel under the chargepipe and above the BOV. Use a trigger clamp to apply as much pressure as possible to compress the two. Then use the C clip pliers to finish the job.

never thought to use a clamp to get that on there, would have made life a lot easier and probably cut down on some choice words that I had

Lmao! Who takes their vehicle to a shop to have a charge pipe installed? If you cant do it on your own then you probably should leave it alone. I've never heard of a shop that doesn't own a pair of c-clip pliers.

No they don't. I've done complete fmic kits on DSM's, Evo's, and Gtr's and not one came assembled. What factory are you referring to?
