New 430d M Sport

Hi Guys,

I finally received my 430d on the Thursday the 12th of March. I ordered at the end of September last year and opted for a bunch of "oddball" options that seems to have led to a pretty bad delay.

My car history in reverse is as follows:

now my 430d
2012 Audi A6 2 litre TDI
2008 BMW E92 335i
2005 Audi A4 2.0 TDI
2004 Mazda RX-8
2000 Audi A6 1.8 petrol

For those wondering, yes I still miss my 335i but not the heartache of it breaking down I experienced limp mode, injector problems, a coolant pump failure and a bunch of other stuff I've wiped from my memory. It was an N54 engine so very quick, but also very tempermental. Thankfully the HPFP never went while I owned it.

For anyone chosing between the 20d and 30d I'd strongly suggest the 30d if you want a refined engine. I know in Nick the Greek's book it's evil to buy any Diesel and in a world where money didn't count I'd have bought another 335i, but here in the Republic of Ireland cars are taxed to death and it would have cost me an additional ten thousand and then the higher tax band on options added and more. Plus there's the extra fuel used and road tax at 4 times the cost. So I kept my >10K and bought one of satan's engines.

Back to the 20d vs 30d... I often drive my folks 320d F30 and the difference in refinement is very obvious. The 20d is great on fuel and fine when you get it moving but at idle it's agricultural sounding. Conversely the 30d is refined, quiet and is a good bit more torquey. Try them both and make up your own mind, but there is a big difference!

Anyway I love the car and surprisingly also the engine. Hopefully I don't get bored of it for a few years!

Options I selected:

Black Sapphire paint
Black Dakota Leather
Piano Black - BMW Ind trim
Leather Dash
M Sport plus package incl:
- 442 bi color alloys
- Pro Nav
- Rear glass tint
- brembo brakes
- Harman Kardon Stereo
Adaptive Suspension
Active Cruise Control with Stop Go
Heads Up Display
Speed Limit Display
Comfort Access
Lumbar Support
Reversing Camera
Badge delete side and rear
I've probably forgotten a few boxes I ticked...

And finally some pics - err I'm parked in a private complex where resident's cars are allowed on double yellow lines! Not doing much for BMW drivers reputation here ;-)

Loving the looks of your car

Say three "Hail Mary's" and put an extra fiver in the collection this Sunday, and I'll let you off the diesel bit.......

Just this once.

Hi and welcome from me too Your car looks the business, the bi-colour wheels work a treat. Love the line about the yellow lines I think everybody here in the north also live in private complexes as they all park on double yellows

Well done, fantastic photography of the front! Congrats, am pretty sure you're going to find yourself a lot more connected and entertained with the 430d than you were with your Audi
