OT- Seat Leon FR, anyone driven one?
Just a quick post to ask if anyone has driven the latest Leon FR and to see what your opinions are. Had one for the last three days as a hire car, the tsi 180bhp model and have been really impressed by the way it drives. Not a great fan of the quality or styling but as a small car that's relatively inexpensive this thing really shifts and handles well for what it is. It seems a lot faster than the quoted performance figures suggest.
Probably also an indication of what happens after driving an f11 520d for nearly a year. Anyway, now I know why I chose my car. At 46 I'm not mature enough to have anything that goes too fast. Would lose my licence fairly swiftly! Last edited by CraigUK; 03-25-2015 at 04:41 PM.. |

I have a new SEAT Leon cupra 280 on loan at the moment. I had a track day last week and I have another on Monday. Yes, it's quick but more than that it handles like it's on rails, unbelievable for a front wheel drive. I posted something about it a few days ago.

I would imagine that the Cupra must be on another level all together. Another 100bhp more than the FR model and no doubt better brakes and handling to match.
I think that a big part of its driving appeal is it's weight, only 1275kg which after owning 5 BMWs is by far the lightest car I've driven for some time. |

One of the few VAG cars I would consider having again.

I had the previous FR Leon before my F30 and it was a great car.
My dad has the 150bhp TSi FR current model and its a punchy engine with great economy, much better than the previous model too. The new Cupras will be a fantastic used car purchase as the badge snobs will be chasing the S3/Golf R which is basically the same car with a heavy 4wd system. |

Our other car is an Diesel FR184 with a good spec, it isn't a patch on my F31 330d but neither did it cost nearly as much and my average over the last tank was 60 mpg.

I've lived with the Leon 1.8TSI FR for 15 months, and I think it is a very competent, capable car.
It is better than my previous E46 325i in many many ways, but I just don't have any emotional attachment to the Leon, I often just get in and drive without being conscious about enjoying it. I adored my 325i and still miss it. So, I'm returning to the flock and put in an order with RiazC for a 320iSE. |
