Yes you can do that, what is your question? Without meth or e85 DPs are usually the biggest barrier between under and over the 400whp threshold. Expect about 380whp give or take with all bolt ons minus DPs on pump gas with a custom/pro/strong tune.

You would be looking at a Stage 1+ tune, 5" FMIC, New CP, and a less restrictive air filter system. I would suggest walnut blasting if your car has over 50k, and new plugs Before you tune. If you do the walnut blast, go ahead and change out the oil filter housing gasket while everything is apart. None of the aftermarket cat back exhaust systems will make any real HP, just change the sound. You could still run a 25% mix of E85 with a premium gas to achieve a consistent(less timing drops) 375hp/TQ at the rear wheels. As Stanlalee suggested a Pro Tune to get the engine dialed in. Catless DP's are good for 25HP in the midrange, and another 10HP on the top end.

I do have a 2008 E90 335xi 6AT, all bolt-ons minus downpipes (see below), and the car runs fine! I know I leave a lot of power on the table without downpipes... but still I run 12.6@109 at the 1/4 mile, which is not bad in my opinion. We don't have access to E85 here...

Not so good for inspection depending on where you live. Kinda loud if you don't stick with stock exhaust. Other than that unless your a tree hugger no good reason.

Hahahaha

Yeah I have downpipes with stock exhaust and honestly it's not loud at all. By now I'm used to it and this feels stock.

When inspection time comes I'll be forking up an extra 150 bucks u know why

I've not dynoed my 335xi. I usually fill-up with 91 octane, but when I go to the drag strip, I fill-up with 94 octane.

I do consistent 12.6 at the 1/4 mile... Here's my best run so far:

Here's GoPro exhaust sound video, stock DPs and BMW Performance exhaust:

if my cousin stops BSing I should be FBO - downpipes by next weekend.

Main reasons I think I do not want downpipes:
-inspections in NYC require emissions test (2years)
-Smell
-It may be a bit obnoxious with my HPF exhaust
-I heard it could be a PITA to revert back to stock

I am still very tempted to do it, but I doubt it. May just opt and get a chargepipe and BOV as my last engine enhancement.

Install sucks, and inspection 'could' be an issue. All other points are nothing to worry about.
