2015 330D wobble at idle
Took delivery of a 2015 330D yesterday and I've noticed a wobble when the car is warm and idling.
At around 500-600 RPM there's a wobble every second or so (which implies some imbalance in the engine somewhere). It's a bit odd, the body rocks a tiny bit every second and my last one didn't do this. I know I should go to the dealer with this but I have zero confidence in their service department so would rather avoid them at all cost. Anyone have any further ideas other than what I've already mentioned? I've not seen any history of these engines doing this from a brief google. Cheers |

Might just be dpf regeneration.
If you know a garage with a snap on or autologic get them to read it for codes. If you get faults coming up when the car is this new you will want BMW to put them right as car will have warranty. |

Got some VAG code reader that can do standard obd stuff. Should pull something if it's there. I'd really rather not take it back to the dealer, their service dept has been an absolute nightmare

Put some decent fuel in it and run it for a tankful or 2 before worrying about niggles this early on. Get some really good mixed drives in. It'll free up, quieten down, and all being well, iron out the grumble. Don't be paranoid at this stage, the engine has already been run heavily at factory and it wouldn't have been released if it was sick (I hope..)

They don't run them at the factory. They fit to car, start up, drive around corner etc. |

At 600RPM it'll do 10 revs per second. So if your wobble was generated as a product of an imbalance in the engine, it'd be doing it's wobble 10 times every second not once every second.
I think.

Thanks for the replies, I'll give it a couple of weeks and see what happens. Everything else about it is a lot better than my previous one

I had another diesel that did this occasionally, someone suggested BP Ultimate, or Shell Nitro (something or other), Ran really smooth, no wobble once using the Ultimate.
Not sure if just coincidence, but I only use the good stuff now. |

Brand new car, I would not be doing any investigation myself, either take it to the dealer or ring BMW assist!
You pay that much money to than read fault codes!!! Could have brought a used VAG with free VAG COM. |

The OP's issue sounds more like a intermittent misfire than any mechanical engine fault. This is reasonably normal on a very focussed 'eco' engine (very low idle speed, coupled with high EGR mix, coupled with lean fuel mix). |
