Exclamation E85 concerns

Wassup y'all, yeah I know I know this topic has been discussed by plenty members around the forums but I can't seem to get the gist of this.

My question for you guys is that is it fine if I run 4 gallons of e85 on half or full tank? BTW I'm currently running Cobb Stage 1 Aggressive and I have access to 93 octane gas here in Texas. Everything else is stock on my car. I know I won't be putting down as much power as i would be with other mods but even a little difference would matter and would like to test it.

My other question is that E30 map from cobb runs by itself and not hand in hand with stage 1? correct me if I'm wrong. I am new to this stuff.

you can run 4 gallons of E85 in full tank with no problem but don't expect huge gain unless you running cobb E30 map. You need to be FBO to run E30 map.

Assuming you have 8 gallons of 93 octane (E10) in the tank, 4 gallons of E85 would give you 12 gallons of an E35 mixture. You should be ok but you are getting close to the stock LPFP limits with E35.

I don't agree. Running E30 on Stage 1 map should max out your Stage 1 trims. The fuel scalar needs to be raised from 1 to 1.106 to support E30 according to COBB. Running this without making changes can throw off your LTFT over time. Will it work, sure... But I still don't recommend it. Modify your scalar in ATR and flash it for E30.

So you are saying I can use e30 on stage 1 aggressive but I have to raise the scalar level to 1.106? If so, is there a guide which shows how i can raise the level up because I am fairly new to this? just to make sure I am completely stock with just the tune and I am only trynna run a max of 5 gallons. Thanks Wedge!

Search "Cobb fuel scalar", there should be a nice reference chart with ethanol cross-referenced against fuel scalar. Make sure to strengthen the scalar across both banks or you'll have some very odd trim behavior.

I can run 4 gallons of e85 and 12 gallons of 93 octane which brings me to e29..is that good too? so i can run 2 gallons of e85 with 6 gallons of 93 octane and still be good at half tank correct?

Well he could be right and knows a lot better than me but I ran 4 gallons E85 with full gallon with your mods before and car was running smooth with no problem. Getting a custom tune from wedge or PTF would be a lot better..

I just don't know how to mess with the Cobb setting to raise the scalar level Wedge is talking about

I would rather go custom later when I'm all done modding to my taste then to pay extra every time

IIRC you only pay extra when changing turbos or changing fuel octane (ie E85 map).
