Yes, decided to take the plunge and have the X5M coated in Modesta instead of OptiCoat Pro. Apparently this is the latest and greatest coating on the market. I had it done by Phil at Detailer Domain in Norwood NJ. Phil and I go way back, he's been my go to guy for all my detailing and coatings. Had the paint, glass, and wheels coated. Price was super fair and his work is impeccable! Here are the pics.........

Looks great! Phil is definitely the man. Best detailer in the tri state area for sure. I've been using him for years. I might go Modesta as well.

My detailer recommended me Modesta instead of using paint protection film. How is this going to protect my paint from scratches?

It won't. Any glass/ceramic coating protects from minor scratches, sand/very small rock-chips, and helps with general protection (i.e. vs. bird shit) - so in my view it's definitely worth the money. But you shouldn't fool yourself, as it's completely useless vs. a hard-scratch (i.e. a bigger rock or a metal object). PPF on the other hand is more solid. The downside of PPF - if you get your PPF chipped, you'll have to do the whole element again.

Thanks guys! I did some research on this product, it seems to be the pinnacle for sealing paint and pp. My X5M has Xpel Ultimate already so I guess this is just extra protection to keep it mint. The salt water by the shore is rough on our finishes.

This is true, but i was thinking to put XPel Ultimate PPF with self-healing properties, of course it will not "heal" from a major scratch, but it is still a protection

Love the new truck and Phils work.

Honestly do you notice any difference between modesta and Opti Coat? Look and feel etc..

Thanks Alan. Don't know yet on the difference since Phil is still working on my X5M. I will know soon since the X5M will have the Modesta and my E350 4Matic Sport will get OptiCoat Pro.
