Apex EC-7 18x8.5 et45

Picked these up as a track set up.

245/35 Michelin Pilot Super Sports all around.
5mm spacer needed in front to clear strut.

More info as these have been installed for a week or so.

This is an incredibly tight for a 2 series...milimeters from the front strut and very little clearance to the fender as well. Again, this is using a 245/35 Michelin Pilot Super Sports. The car is also lowered on H&R springs, running the M3/4 LCA's and using a 5mm spacer in the front. Front camber is -1.7* and rear is -2.3*.....there is no issues with the rear fitment.

I think a 235/35 or 235/40 is probably a slam dunk fitment.

with 235/35 you would have a 5% rolling diameter difference though.... 235/40 it's much better only 1.3%

Perfect! I was posting from my phone and didn't look up the circumference last night.

235/40 would be "slam dunk".

Thanks Pikcachu!

Just ordered 8.5's with the 235/40 fitment. Need to wait a few weeks for the wheels but hopefully the fit works well. Wanted a little more sidewall to cope with the crap roads.

Just FYI -- with some camber plates you can easily get 255 tires under the front with some more camber (-2.00+). I'm running 255/35 square with -2.25 camber square, fits like a glove.

However, my APEX wheels are ET 38 (ARC-8's) so you will need a spacer in front to clear the strut. Rears should be fine though.

Hi Liquid,

How do you like the Apex wheels? I'm looking for wheels now and really considered Apex until I seen them at Bimmerfest. They look really good to me.

Seems like a lot of people use them to track their cars too.

Do you mind sharing some more pics of your wheels and fitment?

Thanks

I love the APEX wheels. Look good (OEM +) and are VERY light (about 18 lbs a wheel, which is very light for an 18" wheel).

I had some on-track photography of my car taken this weekend. I'll post some pictures here so you can get an idea of what it looks like.

Keep in mind that I am running camber plates and H&R Springs right now, so the "stance" will look a little different from stock.

Okay, so I've attached some pictures to get an idea of how the car sits on these wheels. The first is parked in the garage -- the rest are on track while the suspension is loaded.

My specs are 18x8.5 ET 38 APEX ARC-8 Hyper Black (255/35 Dunlop Direzza II x4), H&R Springs, Ground Control Camber plates, -2.25 camber square.

Nice!!! the wheels just fit properly, or did you have to use any spacers to clear?

Also, i see you need camber plates for camber, is this required for both front and rear, or...?

No spacers needed.

Need camber plates for the front. The rear is multilink, so camber can be adjusted without any aftermarket parts.

Thanks for sharing the photos and specs!! Just out of curiosity is there a reason you went with 18's over 19's?

Great looking wheels!!! Love that OEM +

Bunch of different reasons. Cost, weight, tire availability, tire cost, fitment. Most "track" cars don't have wheels larger than 18" in diameter. Some do from the factory, but its a good idea to get smaller if you are getting serious (if you can fit them over the brakes).

In fact, if I was really, really serious I would have tried to find 17" wheels that fit over our brakes (even lighter, and cheaper tires), however, I like the way the 18" look and I wanted to keep it sort of OEM looking.

Will the 245 not fit without the LCA?

I would like to run 245 all around with 5mil spacer in front. Maybe lowering springs but don't wish to run more camber in the front. Is this doable?

the LCAs don't improve clearance, they make the situation worse

also, there are folks running 245s on stock front suspension (tight but no rubbing), e.g. Ramos

I was thinking about running 245/35/18 square with Apex ARC-8's, they have two versions in 18x8.5" ET38 and ET45.. I have a completely Stock suspension. What are the stock offsets for OEM wheels?

OP can you post a picture of your rear tires showing fender and tire perspective with those 8.5 ET45 wheels.

I'm looking at 9.5" ET62 rear wheels to get them tucked in there.
