Crap! & 1st Track Review

Go to get my track tires installed on my stock rims this AM and they got 4 rears instead of a 275/295 mix.I hope they can get them by Friday as I have a weekend at Mosport coming up.Also my forgestar F14's are delayed to May when they were promised for March

I've been meaning to try to fit the 295 on the 10" wheel on the front one day when they were both off hoping for a spacer, but it might be possible to run 295 square depending on your camber situation

295 square?

I've had similar issues with my track setup .. had the wheels, didn't have them wheels, had them, no wait -- not yet.. mine are scheduled to be here tomorrow so I'm hoping after everything the order was filled correctly.

I hope you get your stuff sorted soon, I feel your pain!

We have a 5 month season to work with which makes problems like this a real pain in the butt!

The Good news is they found some 275/30 19's so I will be good to go for this weekend but not ideal as I still do not have my correct track day wheels!

Great tires. I love them... great compromise of grip and durability. I'm on my second set (first were the AD08's and now i have the AD08R's). Excited to try them on the 30th for a track day.

Really wanted to try the Michelin Pilot Sport cup 2's but the sizing availability is not great and there appears to be none in Canada.I am focusing on tires with a wear rating of 140 due to the rules of an event that I will competing in in September.

Can you not fit 295 square on the F8X? On the E9X people are doing that albeit with modified suspension.

Anyone run this setup yet?

No. 295 square will not fit the front. 285 would push it, as long as you don't have coilover. Otherwise, 275 square is the max you can run without rubbing.

The experienced F8x track guys are starting to realize staggered is the better track option. 265/275 front and 295/305 rear.

I am finally ready for my track weekend. The front 275/30 19 & 295/30 19 arrived and on the car but they are pinched a bit on the stock 9 & 10" rim setup. The AD08R's feel quite good on the car compared to the stock PSS with no additional tramlining, about the same noise level with only a bit more impact harshness. They feel like they should be quite good on the track from a few ramps that I tried at speed. Also just put the RS29's on, so I am quite looking forward to getting the M4 on the track!

1st session done.It is really neutral with no issues getting the power down in the slowest corner which is 3rd gear in this car.It is pretty quick with no problems staying with a GT3 up the 3/4 mile straight.Temps stayed the same as on the street. Was finishing bedding in the pads so no comments on the brakes except I got them real stinky till I cooked them off to complete the bedding in.

Very cool. If I have 10k miles on my car, do I need to re-surface my rotors before installing race pads? I've been told both ways. Did you re-surface your rotors?

Just drive a few days with race pads before taking it to the track. Race pads will re-serface rotors.

One issue is the headrest really compromises my driving position when you have a helmet on.A race seat might be in order.

Thoughts from today after dealing pushing hard last session.

The shock dampening is spot on!Corner 2 at Mosport has a big bump mid corner that usually upsets most cars to some degree including my E92 which required wheel sawing to correct. No correction is required in the M4.

It is very easy car to drive quick with very neutral balance and really puts the power down well with very little wheel spin even when curb hopping.

The Yokohoma Ad008r is a very good tire with good grip.there was a well modded E92 m3 that was on 888r's with full suspension that I was staying with in corner speed and I pulled by 15 lengths up the straight.
Overall except for the headrests I am really happy how well it worked today.

Good feedback. Nice to hear the dampening seemed good as I was concerned the dampening was slightly too soft for the track.

How was the headrest compromising your seating position with your helmet on?

I am 5 11 ,tall in trunk but somewhat short legged. With my helmet on,The helmet contacts the headrest high up and pushes my head forward quite a bit which to be is quite unnatural feeling.I guess I will get used to it.

Okay I see what you mean. It does look like the headrest is angled more forward than should be.

Weekend impressions

I am having big issues with pad knock back which I am wondering if is caused by the loose fit of the Pagids in the caliper whick clunk every time you change direction and brake.

Fuel mileage sucks!

Equaled my best lap times of my E92 M3 with being very cautious with braking and not having my wider track wheels.

Saw 248 kph which is about 10 kph faster than my e92 M3.

Ad008's rock.

When pushed really hard the car is very neutral and really puts the power down well in 2nd gear which I am now using at the slowest corner.

Temps remained normal but it was only 12c today.

Very impressed after 2 very aggressive days of having way too much fun!
