X5m 20 Vs 21

I ordered 20 inch wheels and so far so good. I did this to make the option of switching tires in winter easier.
Did I make a mistake?
Is there really a difference?
Experts please comment.

I'm no expert, but are you going to use your 20" wheels for Winter snow/ice tires? I don't think it's recommended to take the tires off the wheels so many times. You should buy a dedicated Winter wheel/tire set. If you use the current 20" 611M wheels, you might have trouble finding Winter tires for the rears.

As far as ride quality, I just had my 20" 611M wheels swapped to the 21" 612M, and I don't notice much of a difference in terms of ride quality.

From my experience, BMW recommends all four tires to be the same width. My Winter set is on 20" 611M wheels, same tire size on all four corners.

Thanks for posting pics for the winter set. I was wondering if rims come only in black. Your beast will look awesome in the winter with these cool wheels

When I inquired about winter rims/tires through BMW last week, I was told the set AwesomeM3 posted online is the only current set for the 2015 X5 M, meaning they will only come in the darker grey finish like the ones AwesomeM3 posted on here, and with the Pirelli winter tires on them. I was also told availability for the set is currently slim to none. I was told to check back end of July or beginning of August to purchase a set.

Thanks! I'm looking forward to Winter! The darker wheels will give the X5M a different look.

Correct, the wheels I bought from BMW were the only ones available for the F85/F86. They only made a total of 8 sets available, and that was about two months ago when I bought mine. I'm sure they'll have more available in the Fall.

Thanks for the note. I am glad the weather is getting better so you can enjoy the power of this beast! I am sure they will have the winter set by the fall. Enjoy it in good health
