Best R compound street tire
Which R compound tire is the best overall for the street considering mostly dry straight line traction with the ability to drive in the rain safely and take hard twisties once in a while?
I'm close to getting the Toyo R888's for the rear (keeping my PSS's up front) but after asking someone who has had both he said the NT555r's are WAY better than the R888's in traction. Traction is very important to me as I'll be pushing over 500 the the rear wheels daily. I'm currently on PSS's and although they are amazing on a road course they are horrible at putting power to the ground ( no traction til 3rd) I've done a lot of reading and these are the two that seem to fit my needs best. If you have another choice let me know |

I've ran around with a bunch of guys that swear by the 555R on the street. From 420-850whp guys driving with these year round down in Florida and Alabama rain or shine.
555R gets my vote as the toyos seemed over priced and not as great of a straight line tire as the nitro not to mention these guys were getting about 15k-20k miles on the Nittos. Can't beat that. |

I know a few Gtr owners that run the toyo and they grip! But than again it's a Gtr, they always learn and adjust so it's hard to say really if it's the tire or the software. The nittos I had on my fwd neon and ended up hydro planning during a rain storm and totalled the car.. No other experience after that lll

I have never used Toyo brand but have only heard great things about them. I had 555 on my 350z and they were very stickkyy. The trade off is treadlife only about 3-6 months from my expierence. I know it is not on the poll but I really like the Nt-05 as nice go between and def better option than Matt Damon!

I knew Matt Damon was good for something.
