Stock M3 at the Drag Strip 11.77 @ 118

Hey guys just got back from the drag strip in my AY M3. Had an awesome time out there and put up some pretty good numbers!

Used launch control at 3k rpm, on stock PSS with 30 psi warm, and let it do its thing for each run. I honestly was pretty shocked to see the times I was hoping for only a 12.5 @ close to 120.

How much of a burn out did you do for the stock tires?

Just stabbed throttle in first and then backed off a bit and let it drive up out of the water box. Not a huge burnout just enough to warm them up and scuff them a bit

DAMN. These DCTs launch like champs lol. There's no way a 6MT could get those kinds of numbers unless they're just that good. I'm tempted to run a 1/4 to see how close I can get to it haha so curious now..

Did your dct allow you to do a burnout then use launch control? Everyone keeps saying there is a speed or time requisite before being able to use launch control, but I have tested them all and only found one limitation. That is whacking the throttle to clean off the tires for a few quick spins, stopping, pulling up to the line, then trying to initiate LC. It fails me every time. I've tried it again and again. What is the point of LC if your mpss look like peanut covered candy apples prior to engaging it. Do I need to clean off the tires with a rag prior to using LC, or am I missing something? Cleaning off the tires should be a priority to autocross or drag racing, so why am I having this issue?

Very nice times, even beat the recent motor week time of 11.97 in stock trim. What octane fuel did you have in it?

Makes me want to go back to the strip. I see my local drag strip is having an open night next Friday.

That's monster traps speeds and times if the car is bone stock and in fact on pump fuel*

11.7@119.4 MPH... that's STRONG*

Having trouble engaging it? I stabbed throttle in the water box and let it drive up out until the tires hooked. The trick is sometimes if your foot isnt completely off the brake when you go to do your burnout launch control can activate and then you do your burnout which counts as a "launch" and then launch control wont engage for a few minutes and definitely not on that run. Happened to me twice that day. Hope that answers your question.

I had 93 octane BP in it its the only fuel I've put in it since coming back from PCD where I used Shell a few times.

Absolutely bone stock only mods are BMC filters and unplugged valves. Like I said above just BP 93 octane for the life of the car. The trick for my time was that launch control worked perfectly, track must have been very well prepped. The 60 foot was insane and even was better than my old 3rd gen camaro race car on slicks.

Added link to my drag times submission to my sig to all who are interested, I put in the temperature and had it calculate the DA for me when I put in the submission. Temp was 86 degrees and DA was 2950. Thanks everyone for the compliments I absolutely had a blast. I really would like to go back and go for the record on a cooler day.

did you burnout before you staged? I heard our cars are notorious for activating LC pre-stage.

Yes I did do a burnout. You have to just be careful with what your feet are doing to not accidentally activate launch control which I did twice. All you have to do is make sure you are absolutely not on the brake at all and mash the throttle then back out a bit. If you are on the brake a little bit it may activate launch control a split second before your burnout and count that as a "launch" and your car is stuck in it's cooldown period before a second launch can be achieved for your actual run. It's just a matter of staying away from the brake.
