Maintenance Program upgrade worth it?

I'm getting close to purchasing a 2015 M4. I've never owned a BMW and was thinking about purchasing the the maintenance program upgrade.

Has anyone done the analysis to determine if upgrading the maintenance program saves money over paying out of pocket after the included maintenance program ends?

I haven't run the numbers, but I would assume on a M4 that it would be super beneficial. any high performance vehicle for that matter....

You mean an extended mainenence plan?
Pay for it once the 4yrs is over .
It will likely be less expensive then, plus you may change your mind and decide on a new car by then
No point in paying for something that won't apply until 4 yrs later

Wait until you get closer to your warranty end. Many people don't know this but you can purchase an MP up to 1 Year or 10k Miles AFTER the factory warranty expires. Don't waste your money now - who knows if you will even own it four years from now?

Definitely wait till the VERY last week that you can buy it then you can better assess how much you're going to be projected to spend on maintenance and see if it's worth it. Typically you need to be driving at least 15k-18k a year to make your money back on the services included. Extended warranty on maintenance ALONE for these cars are $3495.00 for two years and $1700.00 MSRP for 1 year. If you want REPAIR warranty you're talking like $4k-$7k depending on the mileage/time coverage you choose.

But I wouldn't recommend getting the repair warranty. Just take your chances and hope that BMW made a reliable S55. The engine is too new to tell if there are failures in the later stages of use.

Some people get the coverage when buying the car due to having it financed into their deal. Especially is you drive a lot. If you drive 20k per year and in 4 years 80k miles your already over the time frame. All boils down to is personal choice and usage.

I don't believe these plans make sense. I was offered one when my E90 was coming to the end of the warranty and did the math and could not make it work in my head. I ended up doing all of my own maintenance between 50,000 and what is up to 204,000 and counting. BMW's are very easy to maintain so anyone with basic skills can save a ton of money. If you don't want to do your own work you can save a ton by going to a good independent. Finally I am never in favor of prepaying for warranties and service on a brand new car. You end up putting the car further upside down in terms of equity, you pay interest for this stuff and often times it seems that people don't keep vehicles nearly as long as they planned.
