oil every 8k?

So I got my 1200. Then again at 7500 I drive calling for oil. Got it done today. Now reset oil shows 8k . Is that because I'm driving car nice and hard? Or what is interval for these?

We have CBS now. Condition Based Service intervals. So yeah it depends on how hard you drive the car and things like how many of your miles consist of sustained highway driving the car will then calculate the oil service intervals as you drive. Some F8Xs come up every 5k and some at 8k but 8k should be about the longest they should calculate to.

If you bought your car I would change the oil every 4k just for peace of mind but if it's a lease just bring it in when the car calls for it.

Bmws always had cbs for past 2 generations but 8k seems qyick. I thought bmw revised to every 10k. Last m3 was every 15k. 15k to 8k is a big jump.

After the 1,200 mile service the oil interval starts to kick in. From the 1,200 mile service the car will call for an oil change anywhere between 6k and 12k miles of driving depending on the driving style and habits (or once every year, whichever comes first). The average is 10k. Prior, the average was 15k and it ranged between 12k and 18k. The reason for the reduction was due to many people complaining that the interval was too long in between oil changes.

Where did you hear that? I find it hard to believe that BMW would change a oil change interval based on customer feedback. These intervals are engineering decisions so I suspect that changes in the engine technology or reliability data is likely the reason for a change.

Turbo engines in my view drove change to every 10. More heat. My com poo uter seems to be calling for oil every 6k so far so I'm happy I won't need to bother with in between change

Mine showed 8k after the breakin service. I normally do mid cycle oil changes in my previous BMW's, but at 8k, there is no point IMO.
