Talking 330D F34 delivered!

Hi, posted this in the F34 forum but thought I'd introduce myself here as it seems much livelier (!) here.

Ordered a 330D F34 in Estoril Blue with Oyster seats (got rid of the blue finisher inside as well), no extras except for a panoramic roof.

Had to go for a (divisive?) GT as I need the space and there a some good deals going on them. Build week has been confirmed as week 33 (bloody Continental holidays!) with a provisional delivery sometime around the second week of September.

In the meantime I'm going to have to learn the value of patience I guess.

Well I've not long been a member of BimmerPost and the F30 forum, but I'll put out a welcome anyway.

The 330D is excellent : fast, refined, and relatively frugal. I've had several, E46 E90 and F31, and they've each been brilliant.

September will arrive soon enough, and there's still time to switch your order to a Touring...

Cheers. Had good look at the Tourer, but for us it just didn't seem that much of a step up from the saloon in terms of useful space. By that I mean rear seat room and ease of use of the boot. We've got a C Class estate and a Jag XF right now, both have a lot less room than they look like they might have so space has become an issue.

As for the colour, I just wanted something that isn't somewhere between black and white via grey and silver, which left blue or red. Having had (and loved) a few Alfas I can't bring myself to have a BMW in red, leaving blue. But yes, I have a few niggling concerns any EB II, I didn't see a GT in it...

Seen a lot of people posting and asking about the lease deals they have.

3 Series GT 330D M Sport + Panoramic Sunroof

24 Month Contract
9+23 Profile
8,000 Miles Per Annum
£2439
£271 inc VAT per month
Excess is
- 18p + VAT between 100 - 115% of the Annual Mileage Allowance
- 27p + VAT over 115% of the Annual Mileage Allowance.

I think it is a good deal?

I was offered a 335D XD GT for £281 but I decided against it. Higher insurance costs, running costs, etc... on reflection, not really sure why I turned it down .

Welcome... not at all regular at posting myself, but just wanted to say that I think the 3 GT is great. I got my new 335d GT M Sport in April which replaced my 535d GT M Sport (2012).

Just to comment on the space - the 3 has the same (if not slightly more) space in the boot compared to the 5GT . I'm finding that loads where I would have had to move the seats forward in the 5GT fit in just fine. My teenage sons both reckon they have similar legroom to the 5GT (which won chauffeur car of the year I seem to remember) and all that in a car that is a foot shorter! Really is impressive.

The only downside compared with the 5 is the rear is not quite as comfortable (rear bench seat rather than more sculpted seats, no 4 zone climate control and less headroom). You'd probably need to watch the rear headroom with the sunroof - the 5 had this as standard and still had lots of room - but the 3 GT is definitely more compromised if you are transporting above average height people - so I didn't tick the sunroof box.

In my view there is no real difference in the front comfort-wise when compared to the 5 GT.

I was quite happy with the handling of the 5GT in M Sport guise (it was never going to compare with the 335d saloon I had before) and the 35d gave it the necessary power but in 3GT guise with slightly re-worked engine plus 8 speed & adaptive suspension and much less weight the performance is great - can vouch for 0-62 in 4.9 secs on the 35d and there's massive praise for the 30d. I'm getting over 40mpg (UK) - I was getting 35mpg in the 5GT. The xDrive will be a bonus too as I can't get out of my road on summer tyres if there is a dusting of snow (I'm in the SW so winter tyres really don't seem worth the hassle).

On the looks front my 5GT was in Carbon Black with 20" wheels so I only ever noticed approving looks but the 3 looks much better (in Estoril Blue/19" wheels)... I would add so much better looking than a tourer but that may cause offence so I won't! I also have the Oyster interior as I don't like dark interiors...

So I'm really pleased with the 3GT - no regrets at all - you'll love it...

Yes... Seemed the right thing to do at the time. Spending money is an addiction too easily indulged. A tenner here, a tenner there, soon enough I haven't got any tenners left. Insurance is £150pa more so more like £20+ a month before fuel and points.

Plus, as has been said upgrading looks like a viable option from the Surrey Rolling Road results (£150 for a tunning box?)

Apologies for the involuntary interruption whilst I expostulate.

I finally got my VIN and the checker says "Production date 11.08.2015"!!!! (roll off the prod line or start - not sure)

Normal service will now resume.

330d S-Drive is the most enjoyable car I've ever driven. Trust me, you will have no regrets.

And by the time you buy the ACS springs to make the 335d drive right, you will be saving more than £10 sticking with the 30d!

That's cheap monthly ... But the excess miles charge is horrific and nine months up front ?

Are you sure you will not do more than 8k per year (600 per month) ?

The first 1200 miles over will cost you £420, then every 1000 after that will cost you £378

Plus nine payments up front £2400 !!

I didn't think we were able to check status in this country without calling dealer. How are you doing this?

Bmw vin will give you build date as above

The status can only be ascertained either from your dealer or via customer services if you quote your order number to them

Pretty sure on the mileage, in the last two years I've done 14k miles. Even if i do 1000 miles excess that's £216. Nine months upfront yes, but 9 x 270, £2400 looks decent to me. I couldn't find a cheaper deal then not Niue really - remembering I didn't want a saloon.

I hope it works for you

That's the scary thing about leasing v pcp or hp in that you there is no flexibility and you have to get it right on your figures

My pcp has a excess mileage charge of 6ppm flat rate including VAT on a higher starting mileage mind
