Brembo Brake Pads: Who's using them?
Anyone running these pads? They were recommended to me by my repair shop for my front brake pad/rotor replacement a little less than a year ago and initially they were fine. The shop told me they would produce less dust and that was definitely not the case but I wasn't going to bicker over that too much. Fast forward to this summer and these pads have gotten extremely noisy. The shop owner told me to do several hard stops and it should help get rid of the noise but it never did.
He said there's still plenty of life on the pads but is willing to replace them since they have a year warranty. Just wondering if anyone is experiencing the noise or if I have a bad set of pads. If I'm not the only one then I'll definitely be looking at a different brand of pads. Which brings me to another question. If I'm only at a year (roughly 20kmiles) on the current rotors, would I be okay with just replacing the pads? TL;DR: -Anyone using brembo ceramic pads on oem size rotors? If so, whats your experience? -If I have 20K miles on rotor, am I okay to put new pads without replacing the rotors?

I am using brembo ceramics on blank rotors from R1Concepts (Centric Rotors). I had akebono's that clanked, then a new set of free akebono's that still clanked. I have had these on for a few weeks--probably about 4k miles and no clank.
They have better initial bite than the akebonos and they dust a little more. Overall I am pleased. I had probably 20k miles on the rotors and no problems switching to them I drive a 328i and the Brembo pads came with clips on the outside pad that I had to cut off. |

Yeah I have akebono on the rears and they have no dust or noise so I am very pleased with them.
I'm probably going to switch to Akebono despite your issue with them. I'm not too worried about the bite either. Losing the bite for less dust is worth it to me.

Just installed hawk hps 5.0 pads. No noise, low dust, braking power is unreal. Initial bite isnt as grippy as oem, but the linear braking is so smooth.
I hated the oem brakes due to fade after multiple braking instances and heat. As for rotors, you should be fine. As long as there is not a significant lip on the outter edge

Your rotors should be good for at least 80-100k, if you bought Brembo. |
