Akebono "click" help
I recently installed Akebono euro ceramic brake pads. The brake feel is awesome I think, and I can now come to a stop without the brakes latching on at the last second.
However.. When I shift into reverse and apply the brakes, there is an audible click. It's pretty loud, I'd say you could hear it from 40-50 feet away. It happens that once, then again when I put it into drive. Just once each time. Other forums have said the brake pad is moving forward (or backward) in the caliper and that's what I'm hearing. I'm wondering is there any way to fix it, or adjust the caliper? Thanks. |

Well, there is nothing you can do without replacing them... You can try the performance friction z-rated pads, a bit more dust from what I heard but better bit and no "click".

I tried 2 sets of Akebono's and then I switched to brembo ceramics and the click is almost inaudible now. Brembo's do dust more than the Akebono's and have slightly better initial bite as well.

This is a known problem with the Akebono's, it has to do with the fact that the pad is a slightly different size as the OEM pads. Every time you press the brake between reverse and going forwards (or visa versa) it shifts slightly and makes the aforementioned click noise.
