08 key fob no longer charging

hi guys, my key fob is no longer charging and therefore I can't open and lock the car using it. It does allow me to turn the ignition on. I've driven around several hours and it still doesn't charge.

I don't have comfort access either

What options do I have? I don't want to buy a new key fob!

Normally you can't change the battery as the key is glued together. But with some persuasion with a scalpel/screwdriver you can get it open though. The battery is a coin cell rechargable that is soldered onto the board:

Looks easy enough to desolder it and put in a new one if you have the skills. Could help you out if you were in Melb but I see you're in Sydney.

lol didnt even realised theres two types of keys. i got the one on the left haha

You can recharge the key battery? I got comfort access and have never put it into the dash in a year of owning the car. This will charge it? Literally yesterday there was a key battery warning on my dash.

Comfort access has a user replaceable battery that is not rechargeable. If it runs out, you just replace the battery.

Normal keys are sealed with rechargable batteries. They are charged via induction when placed in the ignition. When the rechargable battery dies, you are supposed to replace the key fob. If you're handy you can solder a new battery in though.

I have some of the batteries for comfort access keys.

They are cheap on eBay. I replaced both when I bought the car, and it has not missed a beat since.
