Advice on upcoming 335i Purchase

Hi guys,

Long time lurker, new poster so I apologise if this is in the wrong section, Im posting here because want Aussies opinions on this.

I currently have a 2006 E90 320d through work, its on a lease with around 1 year remaining and $9,000 left on the $25,000 3 year lease.

I want a 2011 or newer E92 335i.

I have found two and have been in contact with both dealerships.

I would like your opinions on car number 1 as the second car is not available (They are waiting for it to arrive 2 week eta and its unlikely ill purchase it due to the interior being cream beige.

YEAR: 2011
MODEL: 335i M Sport E92
COLOUR: Sapphire Black Metallic
INRTERIOR: Black
KMS: 95,000
VIN: E632506
PRICE: $47,000
EXTRA COSTS:
2 Years extended BMW warranty $3000
Stamp Duty approx $1500
TOTAL PRICE: $51,500

CONS: Has some scuff marks on the boot lip, and on one wheel.

Ill have a dealer take a look at any scratches or marks first and if they cant remove the, just have the bumper resprayed, ive had quotes and it wont be too expensive.
Its likely ill have the wheels painted or replaced some im not too concerned there, what do you guys think of the price?

It from Melbourne and im from Wollongong so I wont get to see it in person before hand, I have lots of photos though (I know photos don't represent the real thing)

Are they any extra questions I should be asking? Concerns I should have?

Its from a dealer so they by law have to tell me if it has been written off and it has not.

I have a deposit down on this and iyts off the market, all I need to do is sign the paperwork but I can back out of the deal still.

Here are some pictures, the car has not been detailed yet, they are also throwing in full tinting (Darkest Legal, is what the lady told me on the phone )

You can see the boot scuffs in this photo

Really really depends on what you want in terms of future goals, more likely than not you're going to start off with little mods and maybe get into the heavier end of things. We all generally say I just want this (not to hectic) then end up getting this and that...

With that said, I'd rather an N54 engine vs N55 which is what you're looking at because... There are endless pros and cons between the two both have there advantages but depends on what you want in the end.

I personally think this is a great deal

I think that price is a little high with that sort of milage. At that price I would be expecting half that mileage. Though the BMW warranty could be well worth it depending on what has already been replaced.

Take this one for example:

http://www.carpoint.com.au/all-cars/...-17519534&Cr=5

I keep track of the E91s and there have been a lot sitting there due to dealers dreaming about getting high prices and they have been dropping gradually.

You should be looking at around 10% off the marked price. I would say $42k is about right. Although I haven't been watching the E92 prices but they shouldn't be a lot different to the E91s.

I would certainly also consider travelling for the right car.

Also are you sure you want an N55?

+1!!! The 335i in the link is a great buy!
The one your looking at has some high km's for the year model it is & price, wont be great for resale when you go to sell it down the track

Agree priced too high for the Ks
Id personally go with an older N54 with less Ks and spend the difference on awesome mods. Much better BFB IMO
If you want something 3 - 4 yrs old, keep looking for a better deal
Most of all don't get emotionally attached to the first car you see.. there plenty to choose from, take your time the right car will come along... and then you will live happily ever after

(note: you will not actually live forever, "happily ever after" is simply a figure of speech)

Thanks for the responses guys, the reason I was wanting the 2011 car or newer was because I didn't want the CCC Nav, I do want LcI tail light, LCI side mirrors, and I read about the problem of the N54 HPFP.

From what I've seen on car sales , 47k is the cheapest 2011+ car on there, the rest are 55-65k

I do agree the KMs are high, my 320d has 114,000 and its 06 :/.

The price I guess isnt too much of an issue as it will be a company car so I'm not actually paying for it , I'll be paying around 200 per month of out the 900 finance haha.

Oh and the other big reason is my boss initially told me I must buy brand new and I talked him down to used but still under warranty.

We had to replace the turbo on my 320d 2 years ago and that put him off BMWs and second hand cars!!

I think late 2009 and 2010 were LCI N55 and updated NAV.

Be patient as it is that car is a bad deal

Dumbo ears? Really? I have an e90 pre LCI now and and the curved look is dated. I've never seen anyone complain about the side mirrors on LCI cars before!

From looking in car sales, I can find 2010 models that appear to be LCI , I can't find 2009.

Looking right now, the cheapest 2010 is 42 from a private dealer meaning I need to pay the on road costs.

I don't know, if it's such a bad deal, can you show me a better deal?

I thought this one was a better deal:

http://www.carpoint.com.au/all-cars/...-17519534&Cr=5

LCI Nav system but still N54 and low ks. I think you could get it for $45k.

You need to look for a few months to get an idea of things and potentially the right car.

I don't like the colour,, I would prefer black or white, also the fact it's not LCI.

I would have to spend money getting it up to where I want it.

It appears to have CIC though but non LCI tail lights...

Strange, I need to read up more on the LCI year change, looks like they upgrade some components first.

I have been watching the market for over a year now .

Thank for your input

Do you want a 2011+ for lease purposes?

I'd prefer this:

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1159757

With the cash you save that would get you some nice mods and it has less kays also Also the older models have the N54 which depending onw hat your plans for the car are, ultimately has more 'tuneability for power' whereas the N55 is smoother and uses slightly less fuel.

Dont get the dealer to repair the rims or scratches, use the damage as bargaining power to drive down the price. Those scratches on the rear bar could possibly be removed by a pro detailer, the dealer woul dmost likely ruin it or do a shoddy respray..

Also the 313 rims have what they call a diamond cut finish, its basically a machined finish. You can refurbish them but once again you dont want any old hack doing it you would be much better off sourcing your own specialist to do the repairs as it will get done right and wont be a rush job to get a car sold...

To me that price seems a tad high for the mileage, there are often quite a lot of 08/09 cars out there with 30-40k kays for $40-50k?

finally get a third party inspection done by a bmw specialist mechanic. They could find a few faults which is best to identify before the sale as once again you can use this to drive the price down, dont be lured into the false sense of security of thinking the car comes with a dealer warranty if something pops up in future... More often than not these dealer warranties have clauses and are nothing but headaches to get repairs done once you've handed over your hard earnt cash!

Dont buy one without a warranty is my best advice. High pressure fuel pump, radiator, waterpump, thermostat, oil housing, engine gasket cover are the weak parts on the car.. get them checked out before you buy.. ps: i own a n54 335i since 2011.
