The wife happened!!!!!

So I decide to spend this lovely weekend in Boston area cleaning the F31. As soon as I walk up to it I see this.
What are my options?

New rim? Can it be repaired? Seems unlikely just based on how much of the lip is just gone. Any advice and local shop recommendations are welcome.

Aaaghhhhhh!!!!!!!!

if she's going to drive the car and continue using the wheels as curb feelers...

personally i'd just buy a new wheel.

You know, I've curbed wheels before... several times even... but that sir is a disaster. I would demand a set of HREs for that kind of damage. Holy hell.

You should check the suspension and alignment too. That does not look like she brushed a curb.

Dude, you just need to teach her how to fu_king drive. That is outrageous.

So she just walked back in and didn't tell you about that?

No repair for that, that's a new rim.

Hell yea, that deserves a new set of HRE wheels.. no repair is going to bring back that rim. Damm, looking at that pisses me off. Dont know how people drive like that without noticing it afterwards. Sucks to be you.

Trust that she knew what she did and when. Question is how the hell could you be that close to the curb. I've rubbed a rim or two in my day, but nothing even close to that.

The sound it makes just hurts.

Hard to say for sure by a pic, but looks like it can be fixed. I doubt that it is worth your time or cost. Seems like time to buy a new wheel.

The cars alignment seems ok. Goes straight, not pulling in any direction. So at least I can be grateful for that.

Tire is holding pressure.

So for time being it will stay on. Will swap winter wheels and tires in about 6-8 weeks and that will give me sometime to find a solution for next summer.

Thanks everybody for ur input.

wow in your face.

Anyways, it seems like it could get fixed, but it is a good time to look at some new wheels!

That wheel can be fixed for sure. I had some minor curb rash...wife on her MDX...and the results were amazing. My friend's high end car shop send work to a local wheel repair shop. The shop keeps some before/after pictures (mainly high end wheels...Porsche, Ferrari, Lambo) and the repairs are amazing. I was shocked out how deep of gashes they could repair plus the result were amazing. It was one of those things that if I didn't see it I wouldn't have believe it.

The larger chunks get new metal welding in place. The heat from welding will "burn" or damage surrounding paint so that needs to be fixed. They refinish the face of the wheel on what looks like a big computer power lathe.

I would recommend calling your local BMW shop...or Porsche..Ferrari shop. See where they send their wheels to be repaired.

Nobody drives my cars but me. Nobody. No exceptions. The MT helps keep this rule in force.

This would be true for me as well. Except this car is AT and I taught her MT.
