Enzo Tuned - 300R+

Ok, so I stole the 300R+ idea from ROBNYC, but it's in line with the performance theme from EnzoPerformance. I need to see if they are going to actually use this as a package!

This thread will go through all the parts I'm adding to my 228i cab to allow her to breath properly and sound like the German Performance car she is! I'm not looking for extreme HP or Torque gains, but a total package of performance, sound and drivability.

First off, the whole experience from the staff at EnzoPerformance, especially Renato, which validated why this shop is so highly recommended. Their professionalism and dedication to the craft goes above and beyond what I've seen in most tune shops. Enzo himself took the time to listen to what I was looking for in the tune and explained in detail what he could do for me! I can't say enough about this shop!!!

Step 1: Enzo Stage 1 ECU Tune. Power delivery is now buttery smooth and I can get loose in 1st and 2nd on the stock 225's. This will be addressed later once I sell my stock wheels but for now I'm having fun shredding those run-flats!! I additionally had the team install S55 plugs to ensure we didn't encounter any pre-detonation issues as these little engines run hot, as per a suggestion from 2msport and discovered by Stubok.

Step 2: ER FMIC and Charge Pipes. These will be going in on the next visit along with everything listed below. This is to ensure the turbo and heads stay as cool as possible for longevity and potentially help the little turbo spool quicker. Hats off to Mike from Extreme Power House for the killer deals he gave me. He is also shipping directly to the shop, which some stores will not do!

Step 3: Ezno Down Pipe. This is where I will get the sound I want from the 2.0l engine. Enzo will be using my car as the template for future 228 DP's, which will benefit the next enthusiast as I know these will be of the highest caliber. Spooling should be snappier and I'm sure I'll net some additional gains as well. I was sold on this once I saw the precision welds the team is producing on some really trick exhaust systems...made skills in the shop!

Step 4: AA Signature Exhaust. This will relieve some of the pressure off the turbo but is primarily being installed for it's throaty sound. There are not too many options for the 228 non M-Sport at this time, and once again Mike came to my rescue! I can't wait for the whole package to come together.

Once the system is completed, I will post some pics of the install along with sound clips of the stock and final exhaust. Hopefully this will help others who are looking at the same mods as I was.

Thanks, this was the plan from day 1.

I have a slew of cosmetic changes that I hope to achieve during the winter months but that is another topic.

Did you end up buying the ATM or ER intercooler?

After doing some additional research, I went with the ER for a couple of reasons:

1. I don't have the M-Sport front bumper so I need all the surface area I can get, and

2. I got a special price including the Charge Pipes.

OpenAir so you're going to modify the AA 328 Exhaust to fit the 228?

Wondering if Remus or Borla has something dedicated to 228, or AWE

I actually want to fit a Remus N55 exhaust to my N20. I've seen others doing 435 to 428, M5 to 550.

Yes, I talked to Renato regarding this and the only modification will be the removal of roughly 2" of tailpipe length to match the 228's bumper. A hanger adjustment may be necessary to ensure everything is aligned and clean but it should be a simple task for the mad welder! Additionally, the tips are slightly larger (80mm vs 76mm) and they fit the opening nicly!

Here is a little sound check: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DiW-UC4Y3do

There are some other 228 exhausts, but the ones that sounded nice are all cat-backs.

AWE Tuning does have 228i exhausts, and in my opinion they are the best sounding exhausts

I looked at AWE and the only one I found is for the 235, and it's a full cat-back for $1400.

Well they do say full cat-back > axle-back and $1400 is a great price.
Heck, Remus new axle-back for my F25 is $1100 starting

All the toys have arrived at EnzoPerformance

edit: On a sad note, I just got off the phone and the Bently is consuming all of their resources so my schedule has slipped by a week, maybe longer.

I should probably not say that there is no other options unless I articulate the fact that I don't have an M-Sport bumper. Thanks!

Dropped the car off today...got there really early and had a great chat with Enzo (Mad Scientist), Mike (Master Craftsman), Frank (Master Mechanic) and Renato (Master Manager). I just get excited talking to these guys, they all love their work and it shows!

Renato dropped me off at the LIRR after a brief ride in his (somewhat tuned by Enzo) Diesel 3 series...you wanna talk torque, WOW!

Anyway, shop is always busy with really nice rides...you can see mine outside waiting on lift!

Was that you and another around 1100?

Also found out that Enzo will be off to NJ a few days next week to shoot another new show with Letty from the Fast and the Ferious! I guess Enzo is taking her for a ride in the Porsche...lucky girl!

Hope the storm doesn't throw this off...
