anyone got any dealings with these guys?
Shortened convo: me: Do you guys fit turbos? if so how much would you charge to replace a set? them: all up $2200 fitted me: so turbo and fitting is $2200? them; yes buddy me: sorry about the questions but how much would you charge if i supply my own turbo? them: 800 me: can i just ask how come you guys are so cheap compared to others? ive been quoted upwards of $2000 them: cause we are not here to make millions in a day. we are here to build good relationship with our customers and make everyone happy. we only charge what we think is fair. I like the sound of this! Socket |

Have you seen how wrecking mechanics work? Their toolbox's usually consist of 4 tools only... a hammer, rattle gun, a pry bar and a grinder lol

I was a wrecker for many years and my toolbox was full of SnapOn tools. Not all wreckers are Cavemen these days lol. The Euro wreckers up here are fairly decent, but obviously not quiet the same as a BMW workshop

You also get what you pay for.
Whilst workshops may charge more, they also warrant their work. I.e. Oil leaks etc.. |

but over $1000 more? i could understand if its $200-400. I understand its labor intensive but cant be that hard with the right tools. im sure they've pulled out tons of turbos. maybe thats why theyre so cheap

Dont forget they will charge you for install kit & gaskets if you dont supply them! Plus they will probably charge you a little extra for coolant top up & oil if needed, and any other sundries like rags, degreaser, brake cleaner etc etc, they may even charge you for any "special" tools they may need to buy for your particular job. Just food for thought : )

the deal seems sketchy. They probably can do it if there euro wreckers but they may not realize the gravity of the n54 situation (8 hours of work) anyway as long as you know where they're based they can't run anyway! I'm 60% for it and 40% not for it. If you do it let us know! |

just an update. I work at an insurance company doing sales and i had the pleasure to speaking to Jacqui at Webster Dyno in Wodonga VIC and she also quoted me $840 if i provide the parts. I checked out their fb page and they look pretty legit. Although wodonga is a bit far for me, might be useful for the nsw guys

If it can be completed in 8hrs then $800 is what it should cost, not $2000+
