do airbag deployments restrict car from restarting?
In my 2009 E90 335i, I was recently in an incident where the Driver's steering wheel and passenger curtain airbag deployed.
No fluids leaking from the vehicle and no apparent damage to any engine components, however, the car would not restart. Is there something that I need to reset in order for the car to start? Thanks. |

Thanks for the tip, it appears that you are correct!
I was a bit surprised to see this, an interesting safety feature that seems to also put the vehicle occupants in more danger in certain scenarios. It does not appear that there is any way to easily bypass it either. picture of mine attached for reference: basically the hole on the right side underneath the battery cable has an explosive charge which blows out the cylindrical part and breaks the circuit from the battery post. |

The safety terminal only disconnects the starter motor and jump terminals.
Interior lighting, door locks, etc are all still powered. This is to prevent electrical fire in an accidents, especially if there is a gas spill. |
