Proper Cables Required?

I am replacing the thing on the right with the thing on the left and getting software setup to do coding the "right way".

Did I get the right cable?
Is this the only cable needed because I saw a video with someone using an adapter cable on the end of this cable before plugging into OBD on car?
Thanks

Yep! That's the one I use on my 335d also.

The adapter you mention would only be for the older models that require pins 7/8 bridged (E46s).

It will work just fine. Use mine all the time, exact same wire. Just follow all the steps to get set up correctly.

Thank you!

I have another question... When I am updating the BMW Coding Tool, I downloaded all the files I thought I needed to download, but I am getting concerned that something is missing or I am missing something.

The following are the directions for updating:
"* NOTE E65 & E89 received new I-Level in 56.2. For E65 and E89, use SP-Daten in "E65 & E89 56.2 Update" folder.
To update the daten files, copy the files from SP-daten-E##\daten to the C:\NCSEXPER\DATEN\E## (where E## is whatever chassis you're updating). You will also want to copy the files from SP-daten-E##\SGDAT to C:\NCSEXPER\SGDAT (they're not separated into different chassis in NCS Expert, so you just want to copy and paste everything to that directory. Overwrite everything it asks about). The last step to fully updating the install is copying the files from SP-daten-E##\ECU to C:\EDIABAS\ECU."

I do not see any files containing "SP-daten..." - only "daten" file exists.
Am I missing something?

If you use the coding tool, it will update all the necessary files for NCS and WinKFP. There is no copying the files manually.
