Walnut Blasting Sydney

SO, Where can I get this done for the cheapest price ?
Any Sydney members have the equipment and willing to offer the service?
Not even sure if the car needs it but seeing as I am now on 90,000kms I think it might be a good idea, especially since I will be installing JB4 and DCI soon.

Thanks in advance

If your looking to do it on the cheap, could do it yourself with some carby cleaner and gun brushes.

lol for the love of god don't do that! I did the walnut blasting and by the end of it my back was pretty tired. Can't imagine how painful it would be if I did it by hand. You'll be hunched over the engine bay scraping that gummy mess for hours.

lol, think I'll stick to the walnut blasting method.
I read on an older thread that Advan were charging $495 at one stage. Wonder if the price has changed much.

Not coming to Sydney with your machine anytime soon vtl ? shame

im considering buying a setup like vtl's. I've got everything but the adapter and walnut tank. If you were to chip in a bit on the cost, we can do them both together.

Haha no unfortunately the stuff doesn't exactly fit in a carry on bag . I think one of the Sydney guys on 1addticts wasn't too keen on spending $500 on walnut blasting and wanted to build up the toolset similar to me:

http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1167033

Not sure if that resulted in anything yet though

Is it worth doing walnut blasting at same time as water pump/thermostat? I've been told that the intake manifold as to come off to change the water pump (I think).

Or it might have been to change the oil filter mounting gaskets (on the N54).

No water pump is under the engine on the drivers side, the walnut blasting is on the top right side

Nothing to do with each other even the oil filter gasket is totally seperate to the walnut blast

Got some funny info lol

I think hes talking about the high pressure fuel pump. Got easy access to the fuel pump when you have the intake manifold off.

Only takes 45 minutes for a backyard mechanic like me to remove the intake manifold so its not like its a huge job

If your going to remove the manifold don't skimp on new seals, not worth the hassle if they develop a leak

They are only about 50 dollars but hell more expensive if you have to remove the manifold again or if doing it yourself at least 2hrs labour from start to finish.

+1

I always replace the intake manifold gaskets and throttle body gasket. If the car is on the original charge pipe seal I recommend changing that out as well

I'll be doing an intake mani mod soon and didn't know the gasket had to be replaced, good to know!

I replaced the HPFP without needing to remove the mani

Would you happen to have the part number to intake and throttle gaskets?

I would just like to point out tha you should treat s walnut blast like any other mslaintenance task like an oil change or filter replacement. If you live in Melb Vtl cam help of you don't budget for a $450 walnut clean every 12 months or so .... Just call me Captaim obvious socks lol

There is no need to do a walnut blast every 12 months, that's pointless.

Every 50k to 60k is on the cautious side, BMW recommends 100k I think .

Where are you located asps91 ? If you're close by I'll definitely consider it.
I got a quote for $550, better get a camera into those intake manifolds before I go throwing money around!
