i-drive touch controller upgrades

Recently had a loaner car from the dealer. It was a 2015 F30 and mine is a 2014 F34. I noticed the iDrive touch controller had a matte finish to it instead of my glossy version. I also noticed that it pushed down easier and it was easier to rock back and forth. It was much easier to use. Any modifications I can do to make mine this easy to use?

You can replace the knob. It's just connector and is pretty much plug and play. No coding required.

I don't recall ever seeing a glossy iDrive touch controller on a 3/4 series. I have a 2015 M3 and my wife has a 2014 328i, and both of our iDrive controllers are exactly the same - matte finish.

There is a glossy finished iDrive touch controller but that's the ceramic version available on only the 5/6 series.

Care to post a photo of your 2014 iDrive controller?

^^^ Yup, it's really that easy. Shouldn't take more than 10min for complete swap out...

Wow....almost $400 for a new one, I think I'll stick with what I have. I'll try and post a photo of my glossy version.

I paid less than half that through THIS eBay seller. Was 100% plug and play, see my build thread for more detail.

HERE'S another...

idrive photos

Here are some photos of my idrive controller that has a glossy top. I wouldn't say that it's high gloss but it does look different than the matte finish ones.
