what car ramps, in Oz, suit E90

hi all

I think it's time I bought some car ramps for home. Need to get under my 09 335i, just to have a look and clean, if nothing more.

Anyone know of a type of car ramp that will work on these low cars? I know my Golf GTI wouldn't go up a mate's set of ramps because the front spoiler would hit the ramp before the tyres did.

The E90 I reckon is even lower...

cheers

S

I just bought the low profile jack from costco and used that... $160 well spent. It is hard to get the jack under the car so I just drove it up on some old timber I had lying around.

What's the point of the low profile jack if you're still need to drive over a piece of wood to jack the car up?

I already use this method and I have standard $40 jack and my car is lowered, I thought the whole point of a low profile jack is to skip that step of driving over something to raise the car up. You just stick the jack under it and raise it.

I was planning on buying one, now i have to do more research

Don't bother buying low profile race ramps, they cost way too much (most are at least $70-80) and they don't lift the car enough to do anything except get a jack under your car. A low profile jack that is long enough to reach the front centre jacking point would be very expensive, so I make do with some diy ramps.

The low profile jack is low enough to get the side jacking points and rear differential. The lift height is also better than a lot of the cheaper non-low profile jacks too.

Because I only need to drive over some very small pieces of timber to get to the front jacking point. Whereas if I had a normal jack it would require much, much more...

I haven't found any jack from the local auto shops that car reach into the centre front jack point unless you drive over some bricks/wood 1st.

And my car isn't even lowered.

I was planning to buy the low profile jack too, but I ended up building a wooden ramp and then put a cheap normal jack under the car to the centre jacking point.

and for the jack stand, I am still thinking which one to buy that can fit into the rectangular plastic jacking point that BMW has...

I do see your point, as when you lift the car, for safety, you'd need to secure under it with jack stands....

The ramps will eliminate all the above (if it gives enough height though)

I use two blocks of wood (exactly the same as vtl except they're not even beveled or screwed together) arcan low profile jack and custom modified SCA stands

I used these with my lowered 135i.
I could then reach the central jacking point using a low profile jack.

Anyone used the 'standard' SCA jacks with the extensions? I think made by "Stanrad" or something like that.

Did the extensions allow you to drive a low E90 onto the ramps?

From the specs of the ramps, it should give a 20cm lift, which I think might be okay to do basic underbody work like removing the aerodynamic panels under the engine bay?

Actually surprised that there aren't any cool ramp solutions available.
