So my brakes are getting low on my 07 328i and wondered what pads everyone is using? Prefer not insanely unrealistically Lamborghini style brake dust, but something that stops great. Also, is any brand sensors for pads preferred? I noticed there are a few different aftermarket ones out there. Thanks

I was planning on getting drilled/slotted rotors from http://brakeperformance.com/ (have bought from them many times for my trans am) and I'm up in the air about brakes. I heard cool carbon has excellent brake pads?

I just picked up so me Hawk HPS 5.0's for the wife's 328 after reading all the positive reviews on here. I'll be putting them in next week so no personal experience yet.

I have run all different kinds of hawk pads on my trans am. They stopped great but were insanely dusty. Pretty much all of them, the hp, hps, ceramics, the dust was redic.

I have the older HPS and they do not dust very much at all. Way, way less then the stock pads.

I'm up for replacing them very soon and probably will get the HPS 5.0

Besides hawk what do people like? lol I just really hated my hawk pads.

l like the bite and stopping of my Performance Friction Z pads. Dust less than oem...though mine are noisy when cold.

Which hawk pads did you try on what platform and what aspect did you hate?

I've also heard good things about the stop tech pads.

I run the Akebono Euro pads and love them. Hardly any dust since they're ceramic and still great stopping power.

I had cross drilled rotors on my E46 and regretted it. They looked super cool but boy did the aggressive braking suffer. I could not stand stepping on the brake pedal hard, it felt odd to say the least

I've been using Axxis/PBR XBG (Metal Master) Semi-Metallic Brake Pads for the past several years on my e39 and E46, they have very little brake dust and good stopping power. However, saying that I get into the 328xi on stock pads, there is NO comparision.

I can't stand the brake dust, no OEM for me,I think I will try some ceramics next on the wife's 328xi...

Ran Akebonos on my 5 series, no dust. Small amount of light grey dust will appear but after a long time of not washing. Stopping power was great.

Currently running EBC Green Stuff on the e92, and they do dust. Maybe a tad bit less than OEM but they do dust and you gotta wash. Stopping power is great, OEM comparable.

It's hard to get good brakes without dust. Also everyone's version of "good" is different. I've driven a multitude of cars (owned nearly 20) and have upgraded brake on most of them.

Nothing brake like my C6 z06 and that has upgraded pads (HPS) and stainless steel brake lines with DBA 2 piece rotors (Retail about $600 each).

You touch the pedal and you start braking and when you push harder the pedal barely moves and the car stops hard. I've yet to have a car compare in that regards so to me all other cars have "Sub par" brakes LOL.

The Ceramic generally dust brown where as the HPS dust gray-blackish.

The HP+ would brake the best but they are noisy when cold and low speed and naturally have more brake dust then all 3.

That Hawk 5.0 combine the best of HPS and HP+. High brake force with decent brake dust combined with low noise.

If I needed brakes again, I'd get the Hawk 5.0 personally on the vette and bmw.

As a side note I use that armor all wheel protectant on the BMW and it minimizes how much brake dust sticks, dramatically. You need to apply it every 3rd of 4th wash usually but I think it's well worth it.

I actually run www.s11detailing.com so I'm used to upkeep on cleaning cars anyways haha. I regularly drive my friends c6z06 with hawks and yes, I know exactly what you mean with stopping power. I don't need that for the bmw since it's my dd. Basically, anything better than stock with a little less brake dust would be fine for me. I plan to move to Nevada sometime next year if all goes well so I won't have to worry about pads that are noisy in cold weather either.

So if you were putting these pads of your wife's BMW that you drove occasionally, which would you suggest with low brake dust no squeak. Would Hawk 5.0's fit the bill?

The initial break bite takes a hit initially, but you adjust to it. They also break in after a thousand miles or so.
