Performance power kit flash experiences

Hi. Just wondered if anyone had tried the ppk flash of the dme detailed here:
http://www.n54tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=31885

I've just done it but didn't have chance to drive, only revved a bit in park. Didn't notice any difference in sound from that little test, but I've already got the mod to keep the exhaust flap open. Also, the error code for that didn't come back yet, so my first thoughts are that the main sound difference from this flash are just due to it keeping that flap open. But I could be wrong.

Anyone tried it? What were your experiences?

Managed to take it out for a spin to test it.
To be honest I don't really notice any difference. Possibly made the boost blow off slightly louder but I might just be trying to find something...

I've done it, well I had a workshop do it for me after I forwarded them the info and asked if they were keen to give it a shot.

Posted my results in that thread on N54tech.

I'm interested in doing this as well. Just one quick question: do you have to hook up with a battery charger to flash it? I've had no coding experiences whatsoever

You're supposed to use a power supply, not just a charger. But I took a big risk and just did it on the battery. I wouldn't advise it, but it worked for me and the flash took less than 20 minutes.

Since my original post on this thread I've discovered that if I'm in "manual" mode and downshift at 2k revs when slowing down I get great pops/gurgles from the exhaust. Not sure but I think that is from this flash. I also noticed it stopped my engine pulsing revs at startup sometimes. That was probably a software fix in later non ppk updates as well.

My recommendation is to find a workshop that has BMW diagnostic software and get them to do it. Safer that way, they can deal with any possible issues. And it only takes a few hours of their time at most if they know what they're doing so still won't be too expensive.
That's what I did.

Some might not be happy to do it of course, they pay BMW for the software so might not be happy to risk upsetting BMW

Sorry :/ not trying to defend it, but it's in the daten files traded all over these boards and others. It's exactly the same as other regular module updates that you'd normally get free at a dealer in some circumstances, except BMW choose to charge for this one.

On the plus side for you, you didn't risk bricking your car. One of the power supplies you are supposed to use costs about the same.
