NBT EVO? is this a new nav system or just a small update?

What is NBT EVO?

Can i upgrade my 2014 to this new system? any major changes?

Sorry I'm clueless on this...

Think of it as an iPhone 5 to a 5S, backend improvements, faster, but generally the same.

I have it on my 2015 228i xDrive Cab and this is what I've noticed

- Faster Boot Times
- 4G Connectivity for telematics (Internet and BMW Online loads way faster)
- Improved 3D view in perspective mode
- Automatic Map Updates for your region
- Sirius XM now displays album cover art on 2016 models
- Mobile Hotspot available as an option in some markets

Generally, I think it's worth the upgrade but the user interface is pretty much exactly the same as before. The screen is much glossier than the previous version and the colours look less faded than the previous version and more sharp. They've also updated the Sirius XM logo on the device as it doesn't show the dog anymore - but not that it matters much.

And no, it's not possible to upgrade as the hardware is completely different and it is only available on the following models:

MY2015

F23 manufactured from 11/14
F22 manufactured from 03/15

MY2016
F20, F21, F22, F23, F30 LCI, F31 LCI , F32, F33, F34, F36

The OP has NBT with connectedDrive. Sure you can swap the head unit but there would be no point since he will be losing all of his telematics functions.

NBT EVO uses a different telematics ECU and it is not compatible with the first NBT system.

Does the New X5 F15 have the NBT EVO? Had a loaner the other day and it was noticeably faster and smoother.

Nope, only the models listed above would have it for 2016. It's possible that the F15 will have it for MY2017 or its LCI year.

Is it possible to retrofit NBT EVO with the emulator as we did for NBT? Or are we supposed to purchase FSC to make it work? As my 2013 F30 does not have atm module, I think certain FDL coding is required to make it work. I m wondering if it would be possible to retrofit NBT EVO without any flashing, vin change etc.. ?
