Brighter angel eyes
Hey guys so I've upgraded my angel eyes to some LED ones, but I'd like to know if there is a way to make it brighter, I remember seeing something about a luminance controller or something idk, thanks!

Direct bolt on replacements, look at this http://www.luxangeleyes.com/. Don't bother with the cheap ebay crap and increasing the luminosity doesn't do squat for it.
If you want new looking type.. it'll be to strip open your headlights and install rings. |

You would need to buy the lux ones, they are the brightest but it comes at a price.
The eBay ones will likely be cheaper and only take your angel eyes from Amber to a dull white. If you want bright white, go with lux |

I assume you have a prelci E90. So the AE LED is different from E92 and LCI E90.
You can also increase brightness with type of LED, number of LEDs, and the group #. I have a spare set I am selling if you're interested with latest generation CREE MK-R LED, with 12 month warranty. Not a cheap ebay set. You get what you pay for! The CREE MK-R delivers up to 200lm/W, see http://www.cree.com/LED-Components-a...onal/XLamp-MKR More importantly due to its capacity it will last, probably the life of the car. I measured it and it is 5.76 times brighter than OEM. Looks almost as bright as the new F-series. PM me if you are interested. Last edited by donR; 10-14-2015 at 10:11 PM.. |

I got mine of eBay from a guy in boronia, $100 they are cree led's 40W I'm pretty happy with the brightness. Mines a Lci so the Angel eyes are different design, a single bulb distributes the light around the ring, so it's not evenly distributed. As everyone on here has said only way to get an even distribution is to custom fit a led ring.

Nay your system is definitely the way to go if you have an E92 or LCI E90 and want even rings OR want to upgrade to F series style AEs and be without your headlights for a bit.
But retrofit is still the easier option. Here's what I'm running at the moment: Left hand side is using 2 x CREE XML-T6 LED on the left and old gen model on the right for comparison. I have a new CREE XML-U2 LED that I'm going to be trying which is another 13% brighter. |
