Problems with retrofitted FLA

I have retrofitted a FLA mirror in my 07 E91. I have connected the CANbus to the roof module - that went pretty straightforward. I followed the guide and added the proper option ($5AC)to my VO. and I FA_wrote my CAS. The I went ahead and sg-codiere'd the Kombi and FLA. I can see the FLA in Rheingold, I have the FLA option in my CIC and there are no errors, so I believed that everything should be A-OK - but..

There is no change at all - when pushing the stalk I just get high beams - no "A" icon in kombi, nothing.

I do have Adaptive Xenon's, and I do have the light switch in "Auto" position.

Now what to do - I suppose it's my coding that is not done right? The guide said to "reset fly, kombi and NFRM" - but how do I "reset" them?

Just to confirm you have:

- rain/light sensor
- auto dim mirror wiring harness

These are prerequisites for FLA. I only did this once ages ago but I'm sure it requires activation. Once activated the 'A' icon should appear on the dash...with the lights set to 'Auto' push the high beam stalk as if to turn on high beams. 'A' should appear...

If everything else is correct I would also code your FRM to default using EXPERTMODE to reflect your VO change. I fact you should probably add the 5AC to the FRM VO as well as CAS. I've also seen people flash FLA with winkfp and then code to bring it to life.

To 'reset' modules or 'code to default' follow this link:

Good point, I do have rain/light sensor and I do have autodial rearview mirror (but not auto dim wing mirrors). I do not have a FRM in my ecu list, only NFRM. That has been FA_coded along the CAS. I tried to update the FLA using WinKFP, but it would flash the same version af currently in it, so I did not flash it. I have done the sg_codieren to FLA, Kombi and NFRM - no luck.

I'll try to flash the FLA to see if that makes a difference - everything seems to be coded properly. :/

Hmm, I am sure auto dim wiring is required. Maybe I'm wrong though. I'll see if I can find you the part number...

autodim is not required but topicstarter may have too old instrument panel, without FLA indicator
simply start drive in night, reach 60 km/h and push high beam stalk one time
if you do not have any cars with lights near, high beam will be activated by FLA

I can turn on the high beam all the time, also if there are cars in front of me og car driving towards me. Functionality is as it was before the FLA. :/

Ah sorry, I misread.

Have you tried interrogating module with INPA? I have seen a similar situation where FLA tests failed in INPA and after updating updating with winkfp the FLA function came to life.

Why didn't you write the VO to the FRM?

When VO is changed, it must be written to both CAS and FRM. Then both modules and any other affected modules must be defaulted.

I'm unsure if I did the FA write to NFRM - I *think* I did, but now I'm unsure.

As for the defaulting - is that just done by using an empty man file?

..Then I'd have to add my custom coding afterwards again?

No, don't use empty man. Use EXPERTMODE profile in ncsexpert.

Yes expert mode - and then do what in order to write defaults?

Well the FRM module handles all the lighting functions in your car.

So if you did not write the new VO/FA to the FRM and default it, then it won't work.

As mentioned, do not use a blank .man file to default the module. You must use a profile with manipulation turned off. (Typically it's the "expert" profile)

Problem solved - I think.

I think I know what I did wrong. I did FA-Write to CAS and NFRM, but I never wrote the defaults to it using SG_codieren.

I did the coding to CAS, NFRM, Kombi and FLA - and now I do get the A symbol and the highbeams are not turned on immediately. I have not tried driving it yet, but I recon it will work.

I did a comparison of the NFRM TRC files before and after coding - there is a lot of changes..

I just did a quick comparison between the NFRM TRC file before coding and after. Apart from my coded options, there are _a lot_ of changes to the Adaptive Xenons, max swiveling speed, min swiveling speed etc. Now why are those changed? Is this because of the VO has been altered with a different production date? Or why are there som many changes to the adaptive headlights? I'd expect only FLA portion (and my custom coded options) to differ)
