I wonder why the shadowline trim is considered BMW Individual...

Especially if it's standard.

On this car?
It has always been an individual option but available from the normal options sheet like a few colors etc. Mosts countries have the matte trim as standard even on M cars, the M3 and M4 get the matte trim as standard here and you have to pay extra for Shadowline.

In the US it seems to be a different story. I've always seen M-sport cars get shadowline standard and the M2 doesn't really have the option. I guess an option is just a line in a database for each ordering system, so that would make sense. In the US there is probably option 760 but it doesn't say Individual on it, is my guess.

I had a look at the BMWUSA.com website and it says "Shadowline exterior trim" on all places I saw as they were no options list but just "normal" text about the options.

It is a real BMW Individual option so it should say that in all regions though.

The real questions is why it isn't standard on all BMW's. The matte trim looks a lot worse and I can't see many cars leaving the factory with it except for cheap people that don't care about anything.
