Some first official details on 340i M Performance Power Kit (MPPK), w/ exhaust clips
BIMMERPOST NEWS Some first official details on 340i M Performance Power Kit (MPPK), with sound clip Updated September 13, 2016: The 340i / 440i M Performance Power and Sound Kit (MPPSK) is now released! Announcement @ http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1304356 Updated September 6, 2016: the 340i/440i M Performance Power & Sound Kit will finally be released in the next week or two! The final power figures are accurate to the initial estimates below. Original post: November4, 2015: While at SEMA 2015, we managed to get some official first details on the upcoming 340i M Performance Power Kit (MPPK) and limited slip differential (LSD). Q: What are the details on the 340i M Performance Power Kit (MPPK)? A: It should be available by beginning-mid of December. The power kit now only comes bundled with the M Performance Exhaust since they work in tandem. The stock exhaust has too much back pressure to work with the higher flow of the new power kit, so the 340i M Performance Exhaust has reduced back pressure to work with the remapped ECU of the power kit. There's two ways to increase power - intake more air, or reduce back pressure allowing for faster air exit. With the previous MPPK (for the N55 engine) we went the route of more air intake, but for the 340i (B58 engine) we modified the the exhaust system to reduce back pressure and allow the air to exit the car faster, which together with the modified ECU, results in more power. Q: What are the expected gains for the 340i MPPK (ECU + Exhaust)? A: We're not ready to share final numbers, but expect it to be around 360hp (going from 240kw to 265kw), and 369 lb-ft (going from 450Nm to 500Nm). Q: Details on the 340i M Performance Exhaust? A: It's the new generation flap exhaust. Valves open/close depending on which driving mode the car is in. [See our video below from SEMA showing the difference between the factory exhaust sound and the MPPK (DME + M Performance Exhaust) sound.] Q: When will 340i limited slip differential (LSD) be available? A: The LSD for automatic and manual 340i is now available. No LSD for xDrive 340i. BMW 340i Factory Exhaust vs. MPPK sounds (pre-recorded sound clips in order to hear the exhaust under load): |

Great numbers!!!
Nice split between the 340i and the M3...nice match for the new s4 as well. Noob exhaust question: why do the sport exhaust tips extend so far beyond the rear bumper??? It kind of looks like someone added a cheap aftermarket exhaust...can that be modified by simply swapping different tips? I'd be kind of embarrassed to drive around with my exhaust jutting out like that...I won't even mention the wonky looking diffuser and decals... |

Sounds like more power is made from this set up vs my MPPK/MPE set up on my 335i N55. I think it's great that BMW is allowing these cars to push pretty good numbers for average sport sedans, I still want to believe that BMW will have to add more power to the ZCP M3/M4.
I feel like the gap in power is getting too close to the M cars. |
