Unhappy Paint issues

Hi, I recently picked up my EB 228. I'm disappointed at how easy it is to damage the paint.

I already have 4 small dings in the paint. The most annoying being in the driver's side door when it barely touched a metal post next to my parking spot.

Is there any way of using a touch up paint to restore this back to unnoticeable (or barely noticeable)?

And any type of treatment to the paint to prevent future dings?

You can get the car wrapped in a clear bra. You can also do paintless dent repair of the paint isn't cracked.

Where do I get a clear bra wrap? How much does that run?

Unfortunately it is a defect in the paint -- there is no dent. I can't believe how weak this paint is!! Anyway to fix this?

I don't understand, you hit a metal post with your door and you expect the paint to be pristine afterwards??

Is it chipped? scratched?

There are numerous things you can do to protect the paint depends on how much you want to spend.

The door rested on the metal post. I didn't hit it. The paint is chipped.

If someone can provide me with some constructive advice for fixing it, I'd really appreciate it.

The BMW paint is incredibly soft. Chips easy, mars and scratches easy. A total pain, IMO.

Find a local BMWCCA or a local group of enthusiasts and they will have a preferred shop for fixing paint chips.

Lots of companies do clear bra/clear wrap of the entire vehicle. There is Xpel, 3M, etc. again, getting in touch with your local enthusiasts should lead you to a good referral. Also, if you search this forum for "wrap" or "clear bra" or "paint protection" you will find discussions and pics about the different wraps and different options.

Dr. Colorchip is about the easiest DIY solution. The Langka blob eliminator is another DIY solution. The difference is with Langka you use the OEM BMW touch up paint, while the Dr. C kit includes a special paint.

Either way is a much better result than you can do yourself with touch up paint alone.

Both are good investments given how easy this paint chips.

Thank you very much for the constructive advice. I will try to take a picture of the paint chip shortly.

You guys complaining about BMW paint should try Subaru or Nissan paint.

Things could be a LOT worse.

I got one on my rear bumper just from a shopping bag bumping it.. It took a 1cm sized chip out of the paint. The bad thing is, the touch up paint is much thicker paint than the factory spray, and seems to be impossible to make it match.

Most people don't understand how to use the touch up paint in the first place. You can't just dab it in the hole and expect it to be like new. There's a process. Google is your friend. AmmoNYC did a great video on it. Check his YT channel.
