335i heat doesn't blow hot

With heat turned all the way up it never warms up, air out of the vents feels about the same as outside. Yes the dial is turned all the way to the red. The entire drive to work this morning I could see my breath in the car! I was thinking thermostat, but the car isn't throwing thermostat codes... coolant is full as well. Somebody help me out, I'm freezing lol.

Does it blow equally cold out of all of the vents? My guess is the heater core is plugged.

Probably more likely to be a bad blend door. The heater core isn't likely to plug up randomly. I would scan for HVAC codes with INPA and see what your get.

I bought the car from texas this summer, so the heat could have been broken for years for all I know. Don't need it down there!

Never mind, fixed it tonight. Drove the car and came back home. Felt all the coolant houses by hand and every one was hot besides the ones to the heater core indicating it was clogged. I detached the output house from the firewall and slipped a long vinyl hose over the end. I attached the other end of the vinyl hose to my garden hose and cranked it on. After a few seconds of nothing coming out, chunks of what looked like mud and sand blew out the other house that attaches the heater core to the radiator. I reattached everything filled up coolant and bled it and now I have heat.

This has been happening lately on a few vehicles, and I JUST noticed it today. I'm going to try your procedure out this week when I have time. Thank you for your post, I have the same exact symptoms.

The hoses by the firewall. Are they located on the passenger side or driver side?
I'm getting warm to warmer air on the driver side and luke warm to cold air on the passenger side.

Great job clearing the clogged heater core. I hope you did a complete coolant system flush while you were at it. If your heater core was clogged with that, your radiator may be partially clogged with it too.

They are on the driver's side to the left of the brake fluid reservoir on the firewall. You will have to remove the cowl, cabin air filter, and airbox to access.

I had the same problem.... no hot air..... Went to the "Dealer" since the car is under warranty..... However the car was @ the shop for over a week, then they told me that there was a problem with the heather core, that it was plug with a "extrange" liquid (gray & glueish) and the warranty will not cover the repair/labor so after $2600.00 they fixed the problem! WT*%#.....!!!!

I had the same problem a couple weeks ago. Indy thought my water pump and thermostat were going. Ended up my water pump ground wire came out somehow. Simple clean up and plug back in

That too me (the stuff that flushed out of the OP's core) maybe looks like the previous owner in Texas maybe had a leak issue with the heater core and maybe tried one of those "Stop Leak" cocktails to try and cure the problem. I have read of a few people giving those concoctions a try only to end up with a clogged heater core. Yeah the leak may stop but so did their heat.... If that were the case hopefully it says sealed not that its been unclogged.

Well in my case, been the second owner with this car and the car has been under warranty all the time and never had a "reported" problem I don't see why this can happen!!!!
