Picked up a bmw diagnostic laptop need help

Just recently came across a bmw only dell laptop. It has many programs. I have used it already on my e46 to read some engine codes through dis v57

Anyone have any info on like if i can do coding on this with my 08 335xi e92? And if so how would i go about doing that? It came with a obd II to usb cable. if that helps. heres an album of what i have:

Yep! You have all the programs to code your e92. Before you begin coding check your Daten folders and see if they are up to date, I've heard that coding with outdated Daten folders have caused lots of errors. You can download the newest Daten folders online from a Google search and just replace them in your NCSExpert folder. I recommend going to (codinge90 dot com) to learn more about getting started with coding

This cable will probably not work with e90 2008, you will need k-dcan cable.

Also your software need to be refreshed as you use old version NCSexpert 3.1.0. You need to install Standard Tools 2.12 with the new sp-daten for e89 chassis.

^ yes forgot to mention you need a k+dkan cable for your e9x. I recommend getting the one for 100 dollars as they do not need any modification to get them working rather than the 20 dollar ones on Amazon

I would really suggest installing all coding programs in a virtual machine with something free like virtual box. I have a vm set up that I can easily transfer to a new computer and never have to worry about os incompatibilities etc.

well it seems like everything is already native installed and so ive been told im almost ready to go?

What are the advantages of putting these on a vm rather than keeping it how it is?

None. VM is slower and more unreliable.

With the current releases available today, there is no need to run a VM.
