Question On Cobb Ap3?
I blew up my engine on Monday and so far BMW Service Department have not discussed with me why/what caused it. Thank God I'm under warranty and I have an extended warranty.
I would like to know from you experts here is that now I'm getting a new engine will I have to get my AP3 reprogrammed or can I simply install the tune that is already loaded? Thanks in advance for your replies. |

Sounds like putting a tune back on the car should be the least of your worries. Figure out what happened to the first motor before you destroy the second.

the AP just needs to see the same VIN it did before on the DME. You can call COBB to confirm, but you should be fine. I also assume the service place isn't replacing the DME.

I would love to find out what happened but all BMW said was that I needed a new engine, initially I was going to file a claim through my insurance company but once I let them know (they didn't bother to check) that I was still under warranty they gave me a Loaner and told me that they'd replace the engine. I do hope to find out what happened but I am still concerned with adding my tune back onto my engine because I don't want to sit around with an expensive AP3 just collecting dust. |
