Arkym Rep front bumper LCI
Hey guys,
Wondering what everyone is doing with these? We are doing preliminary fitment and it is hitting the impact/crash bar. You can see the bottom 1/2" of it in all the openings on the bottom of the bumper. I called extreme dimensions, which is another seller of the bumper, and they said a lot of their bumpers require modification of the impact/crash bar and that their products are solely made for offroad/show use... LOL... I asked what about their fitment gaurantee and they said that it only gaurantees that the dimensions and body lines of the bumper are correct. So, for anyone that has seen the Arkym rep, are people modifying the impact bars? That is definitely not something I want to do but I'm set on installing this bumper. |

Now, on either one, the core support has to be trimmed. Not as bad with the duraflex one as opposed to the one from eBay. So do keep that in mind if you decide to go this route. Long story short, my car became a salvage vehicle this past May and I've been working on rebuilding it. Now that it is going to be a rebuilt title, modifying things like the crash bar did not matter to me. With that being said, don't let it sway you away from doing so... Some people remove their impact bars for turbo builds or custom things in general (more common on other platforms). Obviously, it is not the best nor safest option, and I did not want to completely remove mine, so I opted to have it trimmed. There is a pinch type weld on the bottom that got cut out and they are going to reweld it together. It will be stronger than it was originally as well. If you are worried about the impact bar, here are a couple things to keep in mind.... The impact bar is about $200, fairly easy to replace down the road if you decide to sell the car or just don't feel comfortable. Also, I noticed that the M3 uses a carbon fiber impact bar that looks as it could be different dimensions. $600 vs about $200 for the metal one, so not too outlandish of a price for something from BMW that is CF. I was going to try that route, but still wouldn't be sure if it would fit or not. Since the M3 one is CF, you can imagine that it doesn't make that big of a difference if you were in an accident as far as a safety standpoint goes. Lastly, no one will see it, so in the end, does it really matter? |

Ah okay. Thanks for the info! I wouldnt have minded modifying the bumper for fitment at all. But hearing you say now that the car itself has to be modified helps my decsion heaps. If this was some old jdm car cur whatever but people who buy our cars cam be very picky. So im not going to be going ahead with the purchase.
Anyway when your cars back up and running please post your updates! Car looked awesome before |

Ok I just tried attaching it to this reply also and the app isn't working. It goes to upload the picture, gets up to 100%, doesn't give me an error, just submits the reply with nothing attached

I think the main reason I didn't move forward was no tow hook area on the front and that mesh. It looks good though

Yes, it has it! It just looks like a big opening on that side right now because I have not installed the inner wheel well liner. And for the oil cooler, I have the stett stage 2 setup that uses the setrab core

Your point was also good! The one about this bumper not having an opening for tow hook. I would have gone with a oem M3 tow hook cover. Is round something that is very easy to replicate.

I was going to, but there is no way this car would make it on a tow truck so the tow hook cover was not necessary for me. It wasn't supposed to have the headlight washer covers either since I do not have them but that was a mishap on the body shop side. I thought about it and didn't mind afterwards because if I sell it later on someone might need the headlight washers.

There is just a small gap I'm trying to fix, I'm sure it can be seen, above the kidney grills. But, with the whole front end being aftermarket, I don't think it turned out half bad for a semi poorly made front bumper mold
